At Computex 2025 this week, AMD unveiled its newest graphics card – the Radeon RX 9060 X. This marks the third GPU in AMD’s 9000 series family, joining the ranks of the RX 9070 and 9070 XT. The launch date is set for June 5th. Although it’s marketed as an entry-level model within the RX 9000 series, the RX 9060 XT employs the same RNDA 4 architecture as its more potent counterparts, the RX 9070 and 9070 XT. It also boasts FSR 4 resolution upscaling and frame generation capabilities, in addition to DisplayPort 2.1a and HDMI 2.1b compatibility.
AMD is manufacturing two editions of the RX 9060 XT: one containing 8GB of Video Random Access Memory (VRAM) and another boasting 16GB VRAM. Both iterations will incorporate 32 RDNA 4 Compute Units (CUs), a maximum clock speed of up to 3.13GHz, and a power consumption ranging from 150W to 182W, depending on the model’s VRAM and clock speed. Although these specifications are impressive for an entry-level graphics card, things become slightly complex as we delve deeper.
Power and pricing
AMD has set the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) at $300 for the 8GB version and $350 for the 16GB version of the RX 9060 XT. However, AMD will not be releasing its own reference cards for this model. Instead, companies like Asus, Acer, Gigabyte, and others are planning to release their own versions starting June 5. This means that the performance, power consumption, and pricing might vary across different RX 9060 XT models, particularly for overclocked models. However, some of these GPUs may maintain the reference clock speeds and hence stick to the MSRP (as long as ongoing tariffs don’t affect the prices).
In terms of its positioning, the AMD RX 9060 XT 16GB serves as an upgrade for the RX 7600 XT, acting as AMD’s top-tier entry-level GPU. It stands as a main competitor to Nvidia’s $300 GeForce RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti, which are priced at $380 for the 8GB version and $429 for the 16GB version respectively. During AMD’s Computex 2025 presentation, internal tests revealed that the RX 9060 XT is approximately 6% faster than the RTX 5060 Ti on 40 games at a resolution of 1440p. Notably, the RX 9060 XT 16GB was compared to the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB, not the RTX 5060 16GB. The performance of the RX 9060 8GB model is uncertain, as it has less VRAM which could potentially cause notable drops in performance.
On the platform once known as Twitter, AMD’s Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions and Gaming Marketing, Frank Azor, clarified that many gamers opt for a 1080p screen, making 8GB of VRAM sufficient for their needs. However, this fact does not address concerns about potential consumer confusion when comparing the RX 9060 XT 16GB’s marginal 6% performance advantage over the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. This comparison might lead some to presume that the enhancement applies across all RX 9060 XT models, which is not necessarily the case. Moreover, the actual performance may vary among the different SKUs slated for release on June 5, potentially exacerbating this issue even further.
A significant number of gamers continue to play at a resolution of 1080p and find that more than 8GB of RAM is unnecessary. The most popular games worldwide are predominantly esports titles. Our decision to create this product is based on its market demand. If an 8GB RAM configuration doesn’t suit your needs, we also offer a 16GB option without sacrificing GPU performance.

Where to find the AMD RX 9060 XT
Despite some lingering doubts and unresolved queries, it appears that the RX 9060 XT could be a reliable option for those who have already committed to AMD hardware. As previously stated, various manufacturers will begin releasing RX 9060 XT GPUs from June 5th. At this time, no preorders are available, but you can explore the models announced by Asus, Acer, and Gigabyte on their respective online stores. Other brands like PowerColor have also showcased upcoming RX 9060 XT GPUs at the Computex 2025 event. Once these GPUs hit the market, we’ll make sure to update this information.
