Amazon responds after AI delivery drones break orders by dropping boxes 10 feet in the air

Amazon has apologized after videos surfaced showing its delivery drones dropping packages from as high as 10 feet, causing damage to some customer orders.

People are filming Amazon’s new AI-powered drones online, and the videos are getting a lot of attention. These drones are designed to deliver packages incredibly quickly in areas like Florida, Texas, and Arizona.

Amazon’s drone deliveries haven’t been going smoothly. There have been reports of packages falling from several feet in the air, which is especially concerning because the items inside are often delicate.

Customers shared videos on social media showing their Amazon deliveries, and it seems like things didn’t go as expected.

Arizona YouTuber Tamara Hancock shared a video explaining that when you place an order, a drone delivers it within an hour. She also explained the drones are programmed to stop deliveries if they detect an animal, child, or person nearby.

Hancock decided to duck under a table and record the drone, which ultimately released the package of blue-raspberry Torani syrup from about 10 feet above.

When she opened the package, syrup had leaked all over the box. As a result, Hancock recommended that people only use the drone delivery service if they absolutely need an item.

Meanwhile, a TikTok user named ‘tashaloveswill’ shared a video of her drone delivery landing in her neighbor’s driveway. This led others to share similar frustrating experiences with drone deliveries.

One person mentioned that many of their deliveries seem to be made by drones, but they’re consistently left at the top of the stairs instead of right at the door.

Someone else added that they should only do it on the grass, and not on the concrete.

In a statement to the New York Post, Amazon said that these are “rare instances.”

Prime Air aims to deliver packages quickly and reliably, offering a wide variety of over 60,000 products. Customers who have used Prime Air have been very pleased with the service. To ensure items arrive safely, we’ve developed special packaging designed to protect them during flight and delivery.
