As a seasoned movie enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of the industry from the golden age of cinema to the digital revolution, I can’t help but feel a surge of optimism upon learning about Amazon MGM Studios’ partnership with the Entertainment Industry College Outreach Program (EICOP). Having spent decades observing and lamenting the lack of diversity in Hollywood, it’s heartening to see such a significant step towards creating a more equitable and inclusive talent pipeline.

The partnership between the Entertainment Industry College Outreach Program and Amazon MGM Studios aims to foster a fairer and diverse pool of talents, focusing on students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) as well as other underrepresented groups.

Through this collaboration, EICOP will carry on its mission of fostering a variety of viewpoints by inviting student leaders and fresh graduates for compensated internships, starting from the summer of 2025, across all sectors of their business.

Amanda Baker-Lane, the worldwide leader of DEIA at Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, shared that they are dedicated to constructing a space where talent flourishes, fostering imagination, diverse narratives, and novelty – not only in front of the camera but behind it as well. By collaborating with EICOP, we plan to further boost the perspectives of upcoming entertainment industry pioneers.

Stacy Milner, head of the Entertainment Industry College Outreach Program, expressed her enthusiasm about Amazon MGM Studios becoming part of our vital and crucial pipeline development project. With them on board, we’ll keep unlocking opportunities and providing access for scholars from HBCUs and other underrepresented talents, allowing them to contribute their abilities, backgrounds, and unique viewpoints to the contemporary global creative industry workforce.

The program offers students a chance to interact with industry experts, participate in seminars and functions, explore career advancement possibilities, enhance their networking abilities, tour film studios, and gain insider insights into leading entertainment companies to broaden their understanding of every facet of the entertainment world.

The purpose of EICOP is to break down systemic obstacles by offering housing and paid internships, enabling participants to experience the entertainment industry firsthand. Every year’s group will spend their summer in EICOP’s program based in Los Angeles, New York, or Atlanta, gaining priceless practical experience while working with one of its industry partner organizations such as Amazon MGM Studios, Disney, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., CAA, WME, UTA, and more.

The program has vetted an applicant pool of 400+ scholars for its summer 2025 program.
