Amazon MGM Studios Taps Former Netflix Film Chief Scott Stuber to Revive United Artists

As a movie lover with a deep appreciation for the history of Hollywood and its iconic studios, I’m thrilled to hear about Amazon MGM Studios‘ partnership with Scott Stuber and the relaunch of United Artists (UA). With a background in film production and distribution, I can’t help but be impressed by Stuber’s impressive track record of delivering global hits and his dedication to cinematic storytelling.

Amazon’s MGM Studios has formed a long-term film collaboration with Scott Stuber, former Netflix film chief. Under this deal, Amazon and MGM will finance and distribute films produced by Stuber’s upcoming production company. United Artists, an old label previously managed by MGM, will be revived to release these movies. Notable titles under United Artists include “The Pink Panther,” “Rocky,” and the James Bond series. The arrangement involves Stuber’s company producing multiple films per year, which will then be shown in cinemas and on Amazon Prime Video.

At his new firm, Stuber will work from Amazon MGM Studios’ Culver City campus. This arrangement is known as a “first-look deal,” which means Amazon MGM Studios gets to consider Stuber’s projects first before anyone else. Furthermore, Stuber will contribute to all productions launched under the new United Artists label.

I’m thrilled to share that Scott’s impressive background of creating international blockbusters and affinity for dramatic productions aligns flawlessly with our cinematic goals. As the Head of Amazon MGM Studios, I’m delighted to extend a warm welcome to him, as we embark on an exciting partnership to revitalize the iconic UA brand. Together, we aim to transform captivating IP into captivating films that resonate with diverse global audiences.

As an ardent cinema enthusiast, I’ve been fortunate enough to collaborate with Mike Hopkins, Jen Salke, and Courtenay Valenti throughout my career. I’m elated to join forces with them once more to generate a diverse collection of films and revitalize the esteemed UA label, which boasts an impressive legacy of cinematic narratives.
