As an ardent admirer of the dynamic world of television production, I must express my sheer admiration for the remarkable journey of Alexandra Weinberger. Her 21-year tenure at Disney, spearheading some of the most iconic series in the industry, is nothing short of inspiring. From overseeing Shonda Rhimes’ groundbreaking creations to shaping Greg Berlanti Productions’ beloved shows, her influence has been profound and far-reaching.
Disney alum, Alexandra Weinberger, has taken on a new position at Amazon MGM Studios, stepping into the role of head of Young Adult (YA) and Comedy Series Production.
Three years past, Amazon MGM Studios (previously known as Amazon Studios) restructured its executive team to concentrate on three key sectors: development, series production, and IP and talent management. In her new role, Weinberger will oversee a team responsible for supervising some of Amazon MGM Studios’ initial young adult and comedy shows, such as “Cruel Intentions,” “We Were Liars,” “Motorheads,” “Off Campus,” “Every Year After,” “Overcompensating,” and others, as they progress into their second seasons on Prime Video.
In her role as the head of Young Adult (YA) and comedy series, Weinberger will have a direct reporting line to Laura Lancaster, who heads co-production television and ongoing series at Amazon MGM Studios.
More recently, Weinberger served as a podcast producer and creative advisor for “Coming in Hot” at Dear Media. Before that, she spent 21 years with Disney, holding various leadership positions across their brands. At ABC Studios, she was a high-ranking executive in current programming, overseeing hit shows like “Private Practice,” “Scandal,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Station 19,” as well as productions by Greg Berlanti such as “Brothers and Sisters,” “Dirty Sexy Money,” and “Eli Stone.
In the past, Weinberger served as the head of comedy series development for Touchstone Television, where she supervised multiple ongoing shows such as “Scrubs” and “My Wife & Kids”. Prior to this role, she was a manager at ABC Entertainment, overseeing daily operations of various programs like “Spin City”, “Dharma and Greg”, “Home Improvement”, and “The Drew Carey Show”.
