Amanda Seyfried Reveals Plans for ‘Jennifer’s Body 2’ With Resurrected Megan Fox, Pitches Adam Brody to Play the Devil

Is “Jennifer’s Body” ready to come off the ice?

The popular horror movie featuring Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, and Adam Brody is approaching its 20th anniversary, yet discussions about a sequel have continued consistently since its 2009 premiere. More recently, both Seyfried and Brody, who are in the running for Emmy nominations this year, had a reunion for a moving “Actors on Actors” dialogue. During this conversation, they shared significant updates about the upcoming second film with interviewer EbMaster.

“We’re making another one,” Seyfried told Brody definitively during their chat.

“I heard, what can you tell me?” he asked in return.

In the original film “Mamma Mia!”, Amanda Seyfried portrayed Anita “Needy” Lesnicki, the shy sidekick of the antagonist Fox (played by Jennifer). Aaron Brody played Nikolai, the lead vocalist of a struggling rock band named Low Shoulder. As the girls visit a local bar to witness their performance, it’s revealed that Nikolai has sinister plans for his groupie Jennifer – a ritual sacrifice intended to grant his band immense fame. However, complications in the fine print result in Fox being turned into a cannibalistic demon.

Seyfried revealed that the sequel is being led by producer Mason Novick, who previously worked on the original film with Jason Reitman and Daniel Dubiecki. It’s important to note that this movie is 16 years old, but it’s not a secret that Brody and Fox’s characters meet their end in the story.

Seyfried inquired from Brody about their upcoming movie, and Brody responded that he hasn’t received any contact regarding the project, adding that his character met its end.

Just as Megan did, I won’t proceed without her,” Seyfried expressed, proposing Brody for the role of the devil this time. Moreover, she hinted that original director Karyn Kusama (“Destroyer”, “The Invitation”) might be involved and mentioned they had been aiming to collaborate again since the initial film.

Initially deemed a failure upon its release by 20th Century Fox, the original film earned $31 million worldwide against a production budget of $16 million. This underperformance was particularly challenging for Fox, given their success in Paramount’s “Transformers” series, and for screenwriter Diablo Cody, fresh from her Oscar win for “Juno”.

However, lasting fan devotion, the emergence of streaming services, and the influence of platforms such as TikTok have expanded the diverse fanbase for “Jennifer’s Body”. Recently, this movie was referenced in Benito Skinner’s coming-of-age comedy titled “Overcompensating.

Brody wondered to Seyfried what the second film should be called.

“Needy’s Body,” she said.
