According to the movie’s description, Cinderella and Lilith will have to team up to protect the kingdom from danger.

Steps reimagines the classic Cinderella story from the perspective of her stepsisters, Lilith and Margot. When Lilith is wrongly accused of ruining the Royal Ball with a stolen magic wand, she accidentally turns Margot into a frog and throws the kingdom into chaos, all while a popular, prince-obsessed girl tries to take control. Lilith must then join forces with Cinderella and an unexpectedly charming troll to save the kingdom, fix the broken fairy tale, and show that everyone – even those labeled as villains – deserves a happy ending.

The upcoming movie Steps offers a fresh take on the classic fairytale by focusing on Cinderella’s stepsisters and revealing their untold stories. Ali Wong will voice Lilith, a playful character who mistakenly turns her sister into a frog, and Stephanie Hsu will play Margot, who will largely appear as the transformed amphibian. Amanda Seyfried stars as Cinderella, portraying a more complex and nuanced version of the character. The film is directed by first-time filmmaker Alyce Tzue, alongside experienced animator John Ripa.

Tzue explained that Amanda has a remarkable talent for creating characters that feel both unique and believable, which was crucial for reimagining a classic like Cinderella.
