As a cinephile with a penchant for true crime narratives and a soft spot for limited series, I must say that the upcoming Amanda Knox limited series at Hulu has piqued my interest significantly. The addition of four new cast members, including John Hoogenakker, Francesco Acquaroli, Giuseppe De Domenico, and Roberta Mattei, adds a layer of intrigue to an already captivating story.

The series, originally named “Amanda,” has recently brought on board John Hoogenakker (from “The Morning Show” and “Dopesick”), Francesco Acquaroli (“Suburra: Blood on Rome” and “Diaz-Don’t Clean Up This Blood”), Giuseppe De Domenico (“ZeroZeroZero” and “Bang Bang Baby”), and Roberta Mattei (“Italian Race” and “Sweet India”).
I’m thrilled to be part of the team, joining the already announced star, Grace Van Patten, and the talented Sharon Horgan, who will portray Edda Mellas, Knox’s mom. Can’t wait to bring this story to life!
Hoogenakker takes on the role of Curt Knox, who is depicted as Amanda Knox’s lively yet steadfast father. Despite being divorced from her mother, he proves to be an exceptional father to his daughters. He becomes the primary advocate for his daughter in the media during a challenging time. Acquaroli portrays Giuliano Mignini, the Italian prosecutor involved in Amanda Knox’s case. Driven by a desire to establish himself, he firmly believes in Amanda’s complicity in the murder and allows this belief to shape both his personal life and professional reputation.
De Domenico will portray Raffaele Sollecito, who was Amanda Knox’s boyfriend during the time of the murder and a lesser-known co-defendant. He was a principled youth, unwittingly pulled into her tragic tale by mere coincidence. Lastly, Mattei will take on the role of Monica Napoleoni, the astute, stylish, and tenacious head of Perugia’s homicide division. She serves as Mignini’s right hand, firmly believing in the guilt of Amanda and Raffaele, relentlessly pursuing them in her investigation.
