All of Neil Gaiman’s Halted and Canceled Projects

As a longtime admirer of Neil Gaiman’s enchanting and thought-provoking works, I must confess that these recent allegations against him have left me utterly disheartened. The man who brought us captivating tales like Coraline and American Gods is now embroiled in a storm of accusations that are hard to ignore.

Projects associated with author Neil Gaiman, famed for works such as ‘Coraline’ and ‘American Gods’, have either been put on hold or scrapped entirely due to recent allegations of sexual misconduct. Beginning in July, a total of five women have accused Gaiman of such behavior. The first two accusations were detailed in a podcast called ‘Master: The Allegations Against Neil Gaiman’ from Tortoise. Two additional women shared their stories in a subsequent episode, asserting they had signed non-disclosure agreements. A fifth woman subsequently made her allegations known in another podcast, ‘Am I Broken: Survivor Stories’. One of the accusers, Scarlett, used to work as Gaiman’s nanny, while another, identified as K, was a fan. Both claim that Gaiman coerced them into non-consensual rough sex.

As stated by Tortoise, Gaiman firmly refutes any accusations of non-consensual encounters with women. He also mentioned that New Zealand police did not accept his offer to assist regarding a complaint from one woman in 2022. The police have declared they have made numerous attempts to connect with crucial individuals as part of this investigation, and their efforts continue. Consequently, various projects linked to Gaiman or his works have been temporarily halted by studios following the allegations.

Good Omens (season three)

According to an article from Deadline dated September 11, it appears that the Prime Video series “Good Omens,” which is based on a novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, has temporarily halted its production. The show was initially scheduled for a third and final season in December 2023, but at this point, it’s meant to be in the pre-production phase. Interestingly, Neil Gaiman himself has stated that he may step back from the project to allow the production to continue without his direct involvement.

The Graveyard Book

According to an IndieWire report dated September 4th, Disney has temporarily halted the film adaptation of Gaiman’s “The Graveyard Book.” Director Marc Forster, known for “Monster’s Ball,” is still attached to the project, but Disney remains silent on whether production will restart.

Dead Boy Detectives

As a dedicated cinephile, I’ve got some disappointing news to share – my beloved show “Dead Boy Detectives” has reportedly been axed as per Variety on August 30th. However, it’s yet unclear if this decision is linked to the allegations against Neil Gaiman. On a brighter note, Netflix is still planning to broadcast the second season of “The Sandman,” a gripping adaptation of Gaiman’s DC comic book series.
