Now that the crime drama ‘All Her Fault‘ has been a hit, fans are wondering about a second season. The show, which started streaming on Peacock earlier this month, is based on Andrea Martin’s popular novel. It begins with Marissa Irvine desperately searching for her kidnapped child, but that’s only the first of many surprising developments over the eight episodes.
I was completely hooked by All Her Fault! Sarah Snook, who you might know from Succession, is fantastic as Marissa, and the connection she has with Dakota Fanning is just amazing. It did really well on Peacock, and everyone’s been wondering if they’ll make another season – I’m definitely hoping they do and can’t wait to see what happens next!
In his Matt’s Inside Line newsletter, reporter Matt Webb Mitovich discussed the possibility of a second season of All Her Fault, stating the chances are “slim.” Sources indicate the show was originally planned as a complete adaptation of the novel, intended to be a “self-contained” story. Mitovich advises that it’s still too soon to start planning for another season.
The new limited series is performing well, topping the charts for streaming viewership according to Luminate. Between November 7th and 13th, it amassed 33.6 million viewing hours – three times the amount earned by the Netflix historical drama Death by Lightning, which stars Matthew Macfadyen (known for Succession) and reached 11.7 million hours. Both shows released all episodes at once, though Death by Lightning had only four episodes compared to the eight in All Her Fault.
We’ll have a clearer picture of these numbers when Nielsen, the leading source for streaming data, releases its report on All Her Fault in the next few weeks. If the show performs well enough to land in Nielsen’s Top 10 for Original Streaming programs, it would be a significant achievement, as Peacock doesn’t have as many subscribers as larger platforms like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video.
It’s happened before with shows like Big Little Lies: limited series sometimes get extended into ongoing seasons. For the hit Peacock Original All Her Fault, producer Megan Gallagher could continue the story as an anthology, exploring different characters within the existing cast – including Elle Fanning, Jake Lacy, Sophia Lillis, and others – while potentially giving Nicole Kidman a smaller role in a second season. However, these are just possibilities at this point.
