In this guide for Oblivion Remastered, we’ll delve into each faction guild within the game and explain how to become a member. Although not crucial for finishing the main quest, joining these guilds allows players to explore additional tales in Cyrodil by participating in various groups. If you aspire to join the Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, or even the Thieves Guild, we’ve got all the info you need right here!

How to Join Mages Guild and Fighters in Oblivion
To start off, it’s quite simple to become a member of either the Mage’s or Fighters Guild. You can just approach a representative from each (a leader for the Mages, someone representing the Fighters) and express your interest to join. If you’re not sure who to talk to, simply visit their respective guild halls and inquire. Fellow NPCs will usually guide you to the right person. Lastly, we strongly advise joining these guilds initially as they offer valuable experience in both fundamental combat skills and magical practices.
How Do You Join The Arena in Oblivion?
Once you’re confident and prepared for combat, step into the Fighting Ring, which is easily accessible. Within this arena, you’ll encounter Blademaster Owyn. Approach him to sign up for the blue team. This particular Guild offers an effortless entry and completion process – just triumph in a sequence of conflicts to be crowned the Supreme Champion! But remember, prioritize completing Agronak gro-Malo’s quest before engaging in the final battle to streamline your journey!
Joining the Thieves Guild & Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion
Both the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood are a bit trickier to join, but still relatively easy.
To join the enigmatic Dark Brotherhood in the game Oblivion, you’re required to end an innocent life before retiring for the night. If you’re new to this game, you might be hesitant about killing a character who could potentially offer quests, or worse, land you in prison. Don’t worry! Here are some Non-Player Characters (NPCs) that you can eliminate without any repercussions:
1. NPC1
2. NPC2
3. NPC3
This way, you can fulfill the Dark Brotherhood’s initiation rite while still enjoying your gameplay experience.
- Adoring Fan: If you completed The Arena questline, an Adoring fan offers to follow you around. Lead him into a secluded area (preferably, a wild area away from a city) and put him down. Fortunately, he respawns in a few days, still ready to give you a backrub on command
- Agronak gro-Malo: Complete his side quest before completing The Arena to get a free kill and an easy pass into the Brotherhood
- Adventurer: Sometimes you may find an Orc Adventurer traveling through a cave. While I personally like these fellow explorers, you may kill one without incurring a bounty.
- Arena enemies: If you successfully cast a fear or demoralization spell on an Arena enemy, killing them counts as murder.
In the game, there are several non-player characters (NPCs) you could potentially harm, but it’s best to avoid killing those linked to a quest. Following any act of violence, Lucien Lachance will pay you a visit shortly after your next rest.
Players have three different methods of joining the Thieves Guild in Oblivion Remastered:
- Raise your bounty, get arrested, and go to jail. After your release, a representative of the Thieves Guild informs you of a secret meeting at the Garden of Dareloth at midnight.
- In the Imperial City, look for a wanted poster of the Gray Fox. Then, speak to residents of the city, who will tell you about the beggars and their special connection with the Gray Fox. Beggars can be found anywhere in the City, and after some persuasion, they’ll tell you about the meeting.
- Speak to City-Swimmer, the Argonian, in Bravil. After listening to her, ask “Gosh. The Thieves Guild? What’s that?”. Afterwards, you’ll have the option to talk about the Gray Fox. She then tells you about the meeting in Dareloth.
Upon reaching Dareloth, expect an immediate evaluation of your abilities. While you’re welcome to join the guild whenever you like, it would be wise to enhance your stealth and lock-picking skills first. Additionally, acquiring gear that boosts your stealth is beneficial, and a pleasant demeanor will serve you well!
All Oblivion Remastered Factions & How to Join Them
In the course of your adventure, Oblivion presents several groups you can become a part of. Some of these groups are integrated into the narrative, joining them automatically as you progress through the story. However, others necessitate exploration of the world, accomplishing missions, and other tasks. While the experiences may not be as comprehensive as a fully-developed guild, they’re still worth investigating. To make your journey easier, here’s a compilation of all Factions in Oblivion, along with instructions on how to join them:
Faction | How to Join |
Blackwood Company | Joined during Fighters Guild Questline (Temporary) |
The Blades | Offer received from Jauffre after bringing Martin Septim to Cloud Ruler Temple |
