As a seasoned survivor of the Frozen Wastes, I’ve scoured these maps countless times, braving the biting cold and treacherous terrain to find resources for our struggling society. Each location holds its own unique challenges and rewards, much like the people who call this frozen wasteland home.
One of the most precious and most powerful resources you can find in Frostpunk 2 is Cores. These help build some of the most crucial infrastructure for New London and beyond, and you’ll need as many as you can find. Here’s our handy guide for how to get all Cores in Frostpunk 2.
Where to find all Cores in Frostpunk 2
Cores play a crucial role in the advancement of Frostpunk 2, as they are essential for fully upgrading New London’s generator. Additionally, they are used to construct various sophisticated game machinery, making it beneficial to collect as many Cores as possible for optimal progress.
To explore and discover Cores effectively, it’s essential to have a way into the Frostlands through at least one Logistics District, which are established over New London’s Old Waystations. These waystations number three around the city, and if you manage to develop them all, they will provide you with an initial team of Frostlanders to work with.
Cores are found in certain regions across the Frostlands, and you need your Frostlander teams to scout those regions first, to uncover them and find out how many Cores there are. Once done, you’ll need a few teams to bring the Cores back to New London as well. Once they arrive in the city, the Cores will become available for you to use. You can check how many Cores you have available at any time via the top of your HUD screen, to the right of your Prefab counter.
Below we’ve provided a visual slideshow of every region that contains a certain number of Cores that you can salvage. Remember that you can preview which regions will have Cores by clicking on a specific region to see its description. If the blue Core icon is visible in ‘Possible Findings’, there will be an undetermined number of Cores there. Also, once a region has been fully scouted, it often receives a new name, and we’ve taken care to indicate those in parenthesis below.
Remark: At present, this manual is still under development. We’re actively exploring and mapping out the unknown areas in search of the remaining locations of the Cores.
