‘All American’ Cast Shocker: Six Series Regulars Exit Ahead of Season 7

As a movie buff with a penchant for serial dramas and a soft spot for coming-of-age stories, I must say that the latest developments in “All American” have left me both intrigued and slightly melancholic. The departure of several original cast members, including Spencer James himself (played by Daniel Ezra), signals a significant shift in the narrative landscape of this beloved show. However, the return of some fan-favorite OG characters as guest stars, coupled with the addition of new faces like Cassius Jeremy and Kingston Jeremy, promises to breathe fresh life into the series.

“All American” will look very different when it returns for Season 7.

Originally, The CW announced that Daniel Ezra, who played Spencer James, the football star, wouldn’t be back as a main cast member in future seasons. However, they’ve since clarified that he isn’t the only one leaving the show on a permanent basis. Samantha Logan (Olivia), Cody Christian (Asher), Karimah Westbrook (Grace James), Monét Mazur (Laura Baker) and Chelsea Tavares (Patience) will not be reprising their roles as series regulars either.

In other words, it’s just three main actors from the beginning who are set to appear regularly again: Michael Evans Behling as Jordan, Greta Onieogou as Layla, and Bre-Z as Coop.

In the upcoming Season 7, Ezra is set to return and take on both directorial duties and a guest role. Additionally, some other beloved original cast members may make appearances as guest stars.

In the Season 6 finale, some exits were subtly suggested; Olivia and Spencer tied the knot, he won the Super Bowl and proposed she join him in New York. Simultaneously, Jordan and Layla became legal owners of Laura’s home. With Spencer absent, there wouldn’t be many tasks left for his mother Grace. Additionally, Patience secured a role on Broadway in New York City.

As stated in the original summary, Season 7 will return the storyline to its roots: Beverly Hills High School and South Crenshaw High. The familiar themes of love, football ambitions, age-old rivalry, teenage angst, and hormonal chaos continue, but with a fresh cast of Los Angeles teenagers, a new coach for Beverly, and our original Vortex family who discover they’ve become the mature adults, albeit unexpectedly.

Antonio J. Bell and Alexis Chikaeze, who played South Crenshaw students Khalil and Amina, have been promoted to regular cast members for the series, while two new actors have joined: Osy Ikhile as the newly appointed football coach Cassius Jeremy at Beverly High; and Nathaniel McIntyre as his son Kingston Jeremy, who is also the school’s new quarterback.

“All American” Season 7 will debut in 2025.
