Neon has distinguished itself by releasing a string of horrifying films that have received critical praise, and they’ve got even more chilling tales in store. Among these upcoming releases is the critically lauded body horror movie titled “Together“.
Earlier this year, the movie had its debut at Sundance and earned praise from critics. In it, real-life couple Paul Rudd and Evan Rachel Wood, along with Dave Franco, portray a couple whose actions unleash a supernatural event that dramatically alters their relationship, reality, and physical beings. As we approach the film’s summer release, a spine-tingling sneak peek has been shared by Entertainment Weekly.
The promotional poster features a detailed image of Brie and Franco, practically nose-to-nose, their eyelashes entangled. The production team emphasizes the highly anticipated horror movie as “the most terrifying film of the year.” Just looking at the poster leaves viewers with an uneasy feeling, indicating its horror genre. The poster has garnered positive feedback from fans on X, who are eagerly anticipating the release. However, this year boasts numerous outstanding horror movies, making it challenging to determine which one is truly the “best.
Given that the body horror sub-genre has experienced a surge in popularity, particularly following the acclaimed award season of “The Substance.” Michael Shanks took on both writing and directing duties for the film “Together,” with Damon Herriman, Mia Morrissey, and Melanie Beddie joining him on screen.
As the body horror sub-genre gains traction, it’s especially noticeable post-“The Substance” awards season. Michael Shanks pens and directs “Together,” featuring Damon Herriman, Mia Morrissey, and Melanie Beddie in prominent roles.
For quite some time now, Brie and Franco have been working side by side on various ventures. They’ve graced the screen together in films like “The Little Hours”, “The Disaster Artist”, and “Horse Girl”. The latter was penned by Brie herself, marking Franco’s directorial debut. Additionally, they collaborated on the 2023 romantic comedy “Somebody I Used to Know”, which they co-authored, with Brie taking the lead role in this production.
2025 Is a Great Year for Horror
Horror movies have quite a dedicated fanbase, and their standard has significantly risen over the past few years. The resurgence of slasher films can be attributed to the successful reboots of “Halloween” and “Scream”, while this year promises even more thrilling horror films on the horizon, many of which are linked to established franchises.
In a thrilling turn of events, Danny Boyle’s iconic 28 Days Later series is coming back with a new installment titled 28 Years Later. Meanwhile, the director of Doctor Strange, who is returning to our screens, will bring us the sequel to 2021’s The Black Phone later this year under the title Black Phone 2. The much-anticipated return of the Final Destination franchise is also happening, with the upcoming movie Final Destination Bloodlines, marking over a decade and a half since its original release. This year will also see the release of the video game adaptation’s sequel for Five Nights at Freddy’s. The list doesn’t end there, as we gear up for the continuation of M3GAN 2.0 and the final installment in the The Conjuring series, titled The Conjuring: Last Rites.
Additionally, there are separate films in the lineup, including Ryan Coogler’s fresh take. The initial one just had its release to widespread critical acclaim and commercial success. Guillermo del Toro will unveil his rendition of Frankenstein, known as “The Creature,” and Zach Cregger’s production, titled “Weapons,” from the director of “Barbarian.
