‘Alien: Romulus’ Sets Date for Digital and Physical Releases

As a longtime fan of the “Alien” franchise who has spent countless nights jumping at every shadow and cringing at the sight of a cat, I can confidently say that “Alien: Romulus” is shaping up to be a terrifying masterpiece. The behind-the-scenes glimpse into Aileen Wu’s chest-bursting scene has only fueled my excitement for this movie, and I can’t help but wonder if I have the guts to lay there and scream like she did.

In no time, “Alien: Romulus” will be invading your living room with the same ferocity as the Alien that bursts from the chest of Navarro (Aileen Wu) – and anyone else unfortunate enough to cross paths with one in the “Alien” series.

On October 15th, the seventh movie in the “Alien” film series will be available for streaming on Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. Before its 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on December 3rd, it will also appear in stores. In a sneak peek from the upcoming release, actor Wu shares insights about the challenges of caring for a newly born alien.

Wu remarks during an interview, “My job is incredibly simple,” she states. “All I have to do is lie down and make loud noises.” Later, she unveils the cinematic trickery behind the scene of a chest-bursting event, which includes constructing a false torso and coordinating a group of puppeteers who manipulate the creature as it navigates “the small entrance that was my fractured ribs.

Under the guidance of director Fede Álvarez, “Alien: Romulus” centers around a team of workers who venture to retrieve scraps from an abandoned spacecraft circling their distant mining facility in outer space. Unaware of it, they trigger a horde of face huggers that had been preserved for scientific study long ago. The movie features Wu, along with Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced and Spike Fearn in the leading roles.

The 4K version of “Romulus” arrives in a SteelBook dual-disc edition, boasting unique artwork and additional content like interviews with Álvarez and Ridley Scott, behind-the-scenes clips, alternate takes, and extended scenes. Simultaneously, “Romulus” will be offered as a digital two-movie package along with the original “Alien” film to mark its 45th anniversary. The dual feature will hit shelves on October 15 in 4K UHD, HD, and SD formats.
