‘Alien: Earth’ Trailer: Xenomorphs Terrorize Synthetic Soldiers in Prequel Series to Original ‘Alien’ Movie

Space network FX is bringing the “Alien” franchise a bit nearer to our planet with their new series, titled “Alien: Earth.” This eight-episode prequel to Ridley Scott’s “Alien” has unveiled its first full trailer. The show features Sydney Chandler as Wendy, Alex Lawther as CJ, Timothy Olyphant as Kirsh, and Adarsh Gourav as Slightly in leading roles.

Gourav shared with EbMaster in October that he’s playing a major role. He’s particularly thrilled since the series takes place in the future and offers him a chance to be part of a science fiction, horror, psychological thriller production. As an actor, these genres, especially psychological thrillers and horrors, are his favorites to watch, although he admits his understanding of sci-fi is rather minimal.

The following actors are also part of the show: Essie Davis portraying Dame Silvia, Kit Young as Toodles, and Samuel Blenkin in the role of Boy Kavalier. Notably, “Fargo” creator Noah Hawley is the show’s head writer.

In the future year of 2120, a research vessel from deep space, USCSS Maginot, experiences a catastrophic crash on Earth. A team of soldiers, led by an individual named Wendy (Sydney Chandler), stumble upon a startling revelation that sets them up against the planet’s deadliest adversary. The world in this era is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. This Corporate Age hosts the coexistence of cyborgs (humans with both organic and artificial components) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence). However, the status quo is disrupted when the brilliant CEO of Prodigy Corporation unveils a groundbreaking technological leap: hybrids (robot bodies containing human consciousness). The debut hybrid prototype, also named Wendy, signals a significant step in the pursuit of immortality. Tragedy strikes when Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides with Prodigy City, leading to an encounter between these hybrids and terrifying life forms beyond anyone’s wildest nightmares.

Despite having already produced nine movies in the “Alien” universe, including last summer’s “Alien: Romulus” by Fede Alvarez, the franchise is now venturing into television with “Alien: Earth”. This marks the first time Ridley Scott’s long-running sci-fi series will air on TV. The initial season will be available from August 12, and FX boss John Landgraf has expressed optimism that the series may return for a second season.

As a follower, I’m genuinely enthusiastic about ‘Alien: Earth’, and I’ve made it clear that if the show returns for another season, as we all hope, my preference is for its creator to concentrate on writing not just one but two seasons of it.
