On Earth, despite the absence of silence, the “Alien” series persistently provides fans with an abundance of fantastic music to enjoy.
In collaboration with Hollywood Records and 20th Century Studios, the pop culture memorabilia company Mutant is set to launch two exclusive musical releases on traditional media formats in celebration of Alien Day. On April 26th, Mutant will unveil “The Romulus Suite EP” on a limited-edition colored vinyl and mark a significant milestone by releasing the first-ever CD version of composer Benjamin Wallfisch’s complete “Alien: Romulus” soundtrack score.
Each year on a date mirroring the LV-426 colony from James Cameron’s 1986 film “Aliens,” Alien Day is observed as an annual event. Previously, Reebok launched “stomper” shoes inspired by Sigourney Weaver’s footwear in the sequel, and numerous other brands have forged collaborations to honor this iconic franchise that has left a lasting impact on cinema history.
As a movie reviewer, I’m thrilled to share my thoughts on “Alien: Romulus” soundtrack. Initially, during the early scoring sessions, Wallfisch crafted an extensive 15-minute suite of themes for this film. Unfortunately, these themes were trimmed down for use in the closing credits. However, for this special release, he meticulously reconstructed that original suite and even added six never-before-heard musical cues to enhance the overall listening experience.
As a passionate film critic diving into the world of music, I must say that “The Romulus Suite EP” comes in an eye-catching package – a crystal-clear poly sleeve housing acid-blood colored 140 gram vinyl discs. It’s a unique and visually captivating experience that sets the stage for the auditory journey ahead.
