As a gamer who has spent countless hours scrolling through TikTok and following creators like JinnKidd, it’s hard to believe that the man behind the screen is now serving two life sentences for a horrific crime.
The evening before starting a lifetime sentence in prison, social media personality Ali Abulaban (also known as JinnKidd) posted a message of regret to his online followers, following his conviction for murdering his wife and another woman.
32-year-old TikTok user Ali Abulaban was taken into custody in 2021 following allegations of fatally shooting his wife Ana Abulaban, 28, and her companion Rayburn Cadenas Barron, aged 29. After a court trial in May that concluded with his conviction, Abulaban received two life sentences in September, as the judge stated that he would serve out his time behind bars.
On the 25th of September, Abulaban took to Instagram to express a heartfelt apology to his 189,000 followers, including the families of those affected by his actions, for any distress caused. He went on to thank his fans for their unwavering support and expressed regret for falling short of their expectations.
Before I head off to serve my time tomorrow, I’d like to say a few thoughts. Regardless of your feelings towards me, my work, or this sad event – the truth is that I’ve committed an awful act.

Regrettably, my reckless actions and inability to exercise restraint have led to the tragic loss of two blameless lives. There’s nothing that can justify such a catastrophe, and I acknowledge my guilt. I will no longer try to use my platform as a shield to explain or defend myself.
During the court proceedings, I got a chance to express myself and clarify my sincere intentions regarding the unfortunate incident. Despite doing so, the verdict was not in my favor, which means I’m now required to confront the consequences and navigate the journey that lies ahead.
He went on to express remorse to his followers about his actions, and confessed that he felt ashamed by “how weak and self-centered I had become”.
“I will always carry the sorrow that I inadvertently caused harm to the person I love dearly and injured another man, neither of whom deserved such an unfortunate end. I am forever grateful to the families who have been affected by this incident.
I sincerely wish that the life sentences I’ve been given might, in some small measure, start the healing journey for everyone involved.
Further along, he expressed gratitude towards his supporters for enabling him to chase his aspirations and for their continuous backing. He also acknowledged any past disappointments and tendered an apology. Lastly, he bid farewell.
