The first full-length film by writer-director Nora Kirkpatrick, titled “A Tree Fell in the Woods,” which features Alexandra Daddario, Daveed Diggs, Josh Gad, and Ashley Park, has completed filming.
The movie delves into a dreamlike narrative, exploring the deceits that propel us from our mornings, sustain us throughout our days, and entangle us with others at night. Often compared to “The Breakfast Club” for grown-ups, this film chronicles the journey of two romantic pairs whose connections undergo an abrupt transformation on New Year’s Eve, as a tree mysteriously falls in the forest.
Actors Daddario (from “White Lotus”), currently gracing screens on AMC+’s “Mayfair Witches”, will be joined by Tony Award winner and Emmy nominee Diggs (“Hamilton,” “Blindspotting”), soon to appear on Amazon’s “The Boys”. Known for his roles as the voice of Olaf in the “Frozen” movies and his Tony-nominated performance in “The Book of Mormon”, Gad is another talented figure. Lastly, Park (“Emily In Paris”) gained recognition with her nominations for a Tony, Grammy, and Critics Choice awards, and can be seen in Lionsgate’s 2023 summer blockbuster hit “Joy Ride”.
Kirkpatrick is a versatile talent who has produced shows for networks like CBS, Hulu, and Comedy Central, while also directing series for ABC and Hulu. She was a scriptwriter for Amazon’s popular show “Daisy Jones and the Six,” and serves as both writer and producer for Amazon’s upcoming series “The Runarounds.” A seasoned commercial director, she has helmed campaigns for Bud Light, Uber, Duracell, Nestle, Rakuten, and more. In her past, she was a founding member and accordion player of the Grammy-winning and platinum-selling band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
The movie ‘A Tree Fell in the Woods’ is created by Lynette Howell Taylor and Samantha Housman, with Sammy Rosenthal contributing as co-producer under 51 Entertainment. Notably, this production company was founded by the Oscar- and Emmy-nominated producer, Lynette Howell Taylor (‘A Star Is Born’). Recently, she oversaw ‘The Accountant 2’, starring Ben Affleck, which is set for a theatrical release on April 25 via Amazon/MGM. Additionally, Nicolas Chartier, Jonathan Deckter and Brian Pitt are also involved in the production of this film under Voltage, known for movies like ‘The Hurt Locker’, ‘I Feel Pretty’ and ‘Dallas Buyers Club’.
Each of Kirkpatrick, Daddario, Diggs, Gad, and Park are represented respectively by Creative Artists Agency (CAA), TFC Management and Furlined for Kirkpatrick, CAA and Untitled for Daddario, CAA and Brookside for Diggs, CAA and Range Media Partners for Gad, and CAA and Brookside for Park. It is CAA Media Finance who will manage the domestic distribution rights for the film.
