Alan Ritchson will not be facing criminal charges after getting into an altercation.
TMZ published a video showing actor Alan Ritchson, known for his role in Reacher, involved in a physical altercation with his neighbor, Ronnie Taylor. Taylor had reportedly complained about Ritchson repeatedly riding his motorcycle loudly and at high speeds through their Brentwood, Tennessee neighborhood over two days. The situation escalated when Taylor confronted Ritchson, leading to Ritchson hitting him several times.
Brentwood Police Captain Steven Pepin has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that no criminal charges will be filed following an incident involving actor Alan Ritchson. After reviewing videos and witness accounts, authorities determined Ritchson acted in self-defense. Captain Pepin stated that Ritchson also chose not to press charges against the other individual involved, who admitted to initiating the physical altercation by running into the street, blocking Ritchson’s motorcycle, and pushing him. While a reckless endangerment charge was considered, Ritchson declined to pursue it. With the District Attorney’s agreement, the case is now closed.
Taylor told TMZ that on Sunday, while cleaning her bike, a man rode past her house twice. After the second pass, she went outside and asked him to stop, fearing someone would get hurt. She said things quickly became heated, and she pushed him because he was riding towards her. Police reports state she pushed him a second time, and he then started defending himself.
This issue has been resolved just two weeks after Alan Ritchson’s new film, War Machine, launched on Netflix, where it’s quickly become a hit. Since its release, the movie has been the most-watched title on Netflix both globally and in the US. In a review for ScreenRant, Alex Harrison highlighted that “everything in the film—from Ritchson’s strong presence to the editing and Esai Morales’ performance—works perfectly.” Harrison gave the film a 6/10 rating, and currently it holds a 69% approval rating from critics and a 66% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The recent legal situation being resolved is positive news for both War Machine and Alan Ritchson’s future work. Season four of Reacher is scheduled for 2026, though a specific date hasn’t been revealed. Ritchson is widely recognized for his role as Jack Reacher in the popular Prime Video series, and the fact that the incident involved self-defense fits well with the strong, capable character he portrays.
In addition to the fourth season of Reacher, Alan Ritchson is appearing in two new films: the action thriller Runner with Owen Wilson and Rodrigo Santoro, and the Christmas action comedy The Man with the Bag alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Awkwafina. With the legal issues now resolved, media attention can shift back to these projects and Ritchson’s work in them.
