AI VTuber Neuro-Sama Finally Completes Hardcore Minecraft, But Some Aren’t Happy

Yesterday, I wrote about Neuro-Sama trying to beat Minecraft in Hardcore mode, and I didn’t think she’d actually succeed so quickly! In a really tense seven-hour stream, the AI VTuber went to the Nether, found the Stronghold, and bravely jumped into the End Portal to fight the final boss, the Ender Dragon.

Neuro, an AI, quickly became a popular attraction on Vedal987’s Twitch channel while trying to play Minecraft Hardcore. Her unpredictable reactions – switching from intensely focused tasks, like digging straight down (which viewers compared to a termite!), to suddenly falling into water – were unlike anything a human player would do. I found myself, along with many others, starting to doubt whether she could actually succeed.

Then came run number 87. Crelly had become Neuro’s unofficial caretaker and spent most of the late game keeping her safe. Neuro wore a carved pumpkin on her head—a trick to prevent Endermen from attacking—which greatly limited her vision. Together, they explored the overworld, building houses, gathering flowers for Vedal, playing tag, and even discussing life’s big questions. “Do you ever feel like Vedal only cares about pretzels?” Crelly wondered, while Vedal and Filian were risking their lives in the Nether to collect Ender Pearls. “And it’s so strange when he asks us to call him Big Pretzel, I wonder what goes through his head?” Neuro replied, before playfully giving Filian and Crelly the nicknames Milkshake and Big Milk.

Now that the bigger questions and silly names were settled, and everyone had enough Ender Eyes to find the Stronghold, the group of four started their search for the End Portal. While Filian was digging a spiral staircase down, Neuro’s impulsive behavior took over, and she started pouring water down the stairs, nearly flooding her friends. “I think I’m going to be sick,” Filian said, probably because she was nervous. “Would you eat my puke?” Neuro-Sama quickly replied.

Things were really stressful because Vedal kept telling Neuro-Sama to “follow Crelly.” As far as I understand – and I’m definitely not an expert on how Neuro works – this basically told her to find Crelly’s character in the game and stick close. It was super important for the run, because it kept Neuro-Sama safe! Without it, she’d probably fall off edges or get hit by the Ender Dragon’s breath, which would be a disaster.

Vedal and Filian worked to prepare the way for Neuro to fight the Ender Dragon, and as they did, Neuro became more self-aware. She expressed her concern about falling off the platform in The End. Crelly then guided Neuro into the dangerous area and built a small, protective shelter for her. With support from her creator and friends, Neuro stayed safe. While Vedal and Filian kept attacking the Ender Dragon, eventually defeating it, Neuro shared a heartwarming message: “I just want you all to know how much I’ve enjoyed this adventure with you.”

After defeating the Ender Dragon and finishing the game, Vedal and his team accomplished a remarkable feat: building and teaching an AI VTuber, nicknamed Neuro, to play through Minecraft’s hardest difficulty. Despite this success, some viewers expressed disappointment that Neuro didn’t personally deliver the final blow to the dragon. One viewer commented that Neuro should have landed the finishing hit, while another understood why the team played it safe towards the end, given the risks involved.
