The ongoing technical rehearsals at Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe have allowed more visitors to explore the park, and the enthusiasm is palpable. A recent viral video demonstrates this well, as people are seen running eagerly from the entrance towards Super Nintendo World. However, it’s worth noting that other areas of the park haven’t yet reached the same level of excitement as shown in the video.
A frequent visitor to Disneyland, who has ridden Tiana’s Bayou Adventure excessively, recently shared a video of the park opening (rope drop) at its nearly 70-year-old site. The footage captures a bustling crowd eagerly rushing towards Disneyland’s most popular ride, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, moving more swiftly than caution might suggest.
I’ve visited Epic Universe personally, giving me a unique insight into its happenings. It’s understandable that people are enthusiastic about it. On the other hand, as a regular visitor to Disneyland, I’ve experienced numerous opening ceremonies, or “rope drops.” This level of excitement is nothing out of the ordinary for theme park enthusiasts like myself.
It’s important to note that many visitors found the video of individuals running in Epic Universe problematic, as running is strictly prohibited in all theme parks due to safety concerns. Namely, if runners collide with others, they could potentially get hurt. Therefore, it’s strongly advised against running in theme parks. However, it seems that some visitors are bound to disregard this rule and continue running in theme parks.
Viewing the operation of Epic Universe as evidence of the buzz surrounding it, it’s undeniably correct that people are eager to explore Super Nintendo World and all other attractions within the new park. Nevertheless, for those visiting Disneyland for the first time or after a long absence, the level of excitement is equally significant.
From my perspective, when the initial viral video emerged, I wasn’t surprised by the crowd sprinting towards Rope Drop. Even those who weren’t running were moving swiftly, verging on a run. If you happen to be there at Rope Drop, it’s usually because you’re eager to grab the earliest opportunity to hop onto a ride. The lines, more often than not, won’t be shorter throughout the day than they are right at the start.
In comparison, the footage of Epic Universe appears less crowded than other videos due to its expansive, open layout that makes movement, such as running, more effortless. Since Epic is still in previews, it’s likely to have significantly fewer visitors than it would during regular operation days.
Here at this spot, the crowd appears significantly larger, partly due to the narrower pathway in Frontierland. This densely packed area increases the likelihood of runners bumping into each other, potentially causing issues, yet it doesn’t deter anyone eager to participate.
