Ghost of Yotei is now available, letting players experience Atsu’s story. As many anticipated, Sucker Punch Productions has created a vast open world brimming with fascinating mysteries. One quest stands out, as it sheds light on what became of Jin Sakai, the central character from the first game in the series.
If you completed Ghost of Tsushima, you likely remember the ending didn’t fully resolve Jin Sakai’s story – we didn’t learn what happened to him after his encounter with Lord Shimura. However, with the release of Ghost of Yotei, things are a little clearer. In the side quest “The Storm Blade,” Atsu is seen going through the possessions of a fallen warrior. As you can probably imagine, those belongings once belonged to the hero of the original game.
- Sakai ultimately became the first shinobi. He sailed to the island of Ezo to escape from the Shogun. There, he eventually died.
- This is still only very general information. Details regarding the causes of his death are missing.
- Of course, it can also be assumed that additional secrets concerning Jin Sakai can be discovered in the game world.
It’s unclear if the developers will share more information regarding Sakai’s future, but this is certainly a reference for fans who enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima.
