2020 saw Electronic Arts (EA) purchasing Codemasters for a massive $1.2 billion deal. Since then, EA has initiated another round of job cuts prior to their upcoming investors’ meeting. This move has led to the cancellation of two projects in development at Respawn Entertainment, best known for Apex Legends. Notably, the French studio Kylotonn produced several World Rally Championship games between 2015 and 2022, but many consider the rally games developed by Codemasters to be superior in terms of quality.

Recently, Codemasters has been putting more effort into their annual Formula One series, and the upcoming release, titled F1 25, is set to debut on May 30th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Last year’s F1 24 was highly praised and earned a spot in TopMob’s list of the best racing games of 2025.
