It seems they’ve likely announced the termination of their animated sitcom, “Teenage Euthanasia,” which aired from 2021 to 2023.
According to the official page for “Teenage Euthanasia,” there are strong indications that the series won’t return for a third season, as its bio now reads, “Like Trophy Fantasy’s heart, this show is at an end.” The last post on the “Teenage Euthanasia” Instagram was in October 2023, and it appears that fresh episodes may no longer be forthcoming.
Life After Death (in the Near Future)
The comedy show featured Maria Bamford as Trophy Fantasy, Jo Firestone as Euthanasia “Annie” Fantasy, Tim Robinson as Uncle Pete, and Bebe Neuwirth as Baba. In this series, we follow the Tender Endings funeral home staff, where an unexpected event occurs: Trophy’s body is delivered but then miraculously comes back to life as a conscious zombie.
It appears as though the series “Teenage Euthanasia” has ceased to exist in any potential future seasons and instead seems to have found a final resting place. Interestingly, its Instagram bio hints at this, while confirming that the first two seasons can still be watched on Max.
Adult Swim Is Home To Breakout Hits Like Rick & Morty
Regrettably, “Teenage Euthanasia” didn’t gain the broad recognition or critical acclaim that some other Adult Swim original productions have received. Notable examples of their successful series include “Rick and Morty,” “Robot Chicken,” and others.
The success of Rick and Morty, especially, has turned it into an extremely lucrative franchise, earning more than $100 million since it first aired in 2013. Similarly, the stop-motion animated series Robot Chicken has continued to be a consistent ratings winner for the network ever since its premiere in 2005, amassing six Emmy Awards for its biting satire of popular culture and celebrities.
Adult Swim has built a reputation for its innovative, adult-oriented series such as “Teenage Euthanasia.” However, not every program can achieve the same level of popularity as top-tier franchises. Given the lineup that includes shows like “Futurama” and “Bob’s Burgers,” it seems there wasn’t much space in their schedule for “Teenage Euthanasia.” Nonetheless, “Teenage Euthanasia” is slated to debut on Adult Swim later this month.
Teenage Euthanasia Season 1 and Season 2 are streaming on Max.
