Nintendo has shut down an island in Animal Crossing that contained adult content, despite it being available for five years.
Animal Crossing players are incredibly creative, and many have designed amazing islands. One person took it to the extreme, completely recreating their island to look like the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout.
It wasn’t long before players started experimenting with the game’s creation tools. One island, made by creator churip_ccc, gained notoriety for its mature content, attracting many players and YouTubers eager to see what it was all about.
After five years, Nintendo has essentially closed down the island. The creator says the Dream Address used to visit it no longer functions, so it’s now impossible to access.
Animal Crossing creator pokes fun at Nintendo after their adult island was banned
According to a translation of their post on X (formerly Twitter), Nintendo removed the Dream Address for the adult island just one day before the update. They did offer an apology to the company, but included a subtle, playful joke along with it.
Look, I gotta say, I’m really sorry to Nintendo. Actually, maybe ‘thank you’ is more like it. They basically let something slide for over five years, and honestly, I appreciate that.
They also expressed gratitude to all visitors, especially those who shared the island with their viewers in videos.
The island is just as vibrant and exciting as its name suggests. A particularly memorable spot is a love hotel, guarded by impressive statues, and playfully decorated with neon palm trees that cleverly cover certain parts.
Beyond all that, the area offered a wide range of adult entertainment, including strip clubs, brothels, adult shops, and bars with hostesses. It even featured a dedicated smoking zone and a red-light district designed to resemble historical Edo-era Japan.
The homes for employees were also designed to match the island’s adult atmosphere, helping to create a fully immersive experience.
