Adam Sandler Enlists AEW's MJF For Happy Gilmore 2 Role

As a gamer with a knack for spotting patterns and anticipating twists, I find myself intrigued by the casting of Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) in Happy Gilmore 2. While he may be a villain in the wrestling world, his acting career seems to be on the rise, having made his debut in The Iron Claw and with upcoming roles in The Floaters and Stranglehold.

This year, it was previously shared that Adam Sandler would have Netflix produce and stream the second installment of “Happy Gilmore”, a beloved movie of his fans. Recently, it’s been announced that AEW wrestler Maxwell Jacob Friedman (also known as MJF) has joined the cast for this upcoming sequel.

As per Deadline, the specifics of Friedman’s role are yet unveiled, but he’s known for playing the antagonist in the wrestling arena and has been a top-tier star for AEW ever since their launch in 2019. MJF, a previous AEW World champion, also made his acting debut in the drama film The Iron Claw by A24, which focuses on the renowned Von Erich wrestling family. Interestingly, Friedman is set to feature in two upcoming movies titled The Floaters and Stranglehold.

In the first Happy Gilmore movie, Adam Sandler played the lead character, a hockey player who unexpectedly excelled at golf. However, his uncontrollable temper and poor putting skills almost ruined his golfing journey. Julie Bowen was cast as Virginia Venit, Happy’s romantic interest, while Christopher McDonald portrayed Shooter McGavin, his main adversary. Both actors will reappear in the upcoming sequel. Travis Kelce, Margaret Qualley, and Bad Bunny have been confirmed for cameo appearances in the film, with details about Bad Bunny’s role yet to be revealed.

Director Kyle Newacheck, who worked on “Murder Mystery,” will once again collaborate with Adam Sandler for the upcoming sequel of “Happy Gilmore.” Adam Sandler and Tim Herlihy are penning the script together. As of now, Netflix hasn’t announced a release date for “Happy Gilmore 2.
