As a seasoned movie enthusiast with decades of cinematic experiences under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement about the latest developments at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The newly elected board members, hailing from various branches of our beloved industry, bring an incredible wealth of knowledge and talent to the table.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently revealed their five freshly appointed members for the 2024-2025 Academy Foundation Board, along with their officers. This board consists of nine trustees, all of whom are part of the Academy’s Board of Governors.

The individuals holding these positions are: Howard Berger (President of Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch), Brooke Breton (Vice President of Visual Effects Branch), Donna Gigliotti (Treasurer of Executives Branch), Kim Taylor-Coleman (Vice President of Casting Directors Branch) and Marlon West (Secretary of Animation Branch).

New members on the board are Jason Reitman from the Directors’ group, Stephen Rivkin representing the Film Editors, Dana Stevens as a representative of the Writers, and Janet Yang for the Producers.

As an avid supporter, I take pride in the role that The Academy Foundation plays in managing the academic, conservation, and cultural endeavors of the esteemed Academy. This includes the meticulous care of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the extensive knowledge housed within the Academy’s Margaret Herrick Library, the preservation efforts of the Academy Film Archive, the cultivation of the Academy Collection, and the nurturing of the Academy’s talent development programs.

“Bill Kramer, Academy CEO, stated that the role of the Academy Foundation is essential to the Academy’s mission to honor artistic and innovative filmmaking, foster future artists, safeguard and exhibit global film heritage, and unite movie enthusiasts worldwide. He expressed his gratitude towards our Academy governors who sit on the Board of the Academy Foundation, as they consistently dedicate their efforts to moving forward with our significant foundation projects.”

The members and officials of the Academy Foundation Board are appointed to serve for a period of one year. In their capacity as representatives of the Foundation Board, Berger, Gigliotti, and Yang additionally sit on the Academy Museum Board of Trustees for terms lasting one year each.
