During the June 4 State of Play event, the game development company known as Giant Squid, famous for creating Abzu and The Pathless, unveiled another captivating trailer for their upcoming title, Sword of the Sea.
As I watched the trailer unfold, my pulse quickened at the sight of an exhilarating gameplay blend – reminiscent of the enchanting ambiance in Journey, yet infused with the adrenaline-pumping action of skateboarding games. The Hoversword, a cleverly named ride, promises to carry me through breathtaking landscapes of Sword of the Sea. The designers have meticulously crafted a world that’s as wavy as the ocean itself, offering ample chances for me to gather speed and master an array of tricks!
In May 2023, during a PlayStation Showcase, Giant Squid, who were involved in creating Journey itself, gave a hint about a game called Sword of the Sea. Since then, there wasn’t much news about the game. But now, we have a fresh new trailer for it during the State of Play event, and luckily, we won’t have to wait too long before getting our hands on it.
Sword of the Sea will be released for PS5 on August 19.
