ABC News Elevates Chris Dinan to Executive Producer, ‘World News Tonight’

As a seasoned cinema of news enthusiast with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the recent shift behind the scenes at ABC News is a move that promises intrigue and excitement for the future of “World News Tonight.” The appointment of Chris Dinan as executive producer marks a significant chapter in this iconic program’s history.

David Muir will have a new top producer behind the scenes of ABC News‘ “World News Tonight.”

Chris Dinan, previously serving as the senior broadcast producer for the evening news program, has now been appointed as the executive producer for the series. He takes over from Almin Karamehmedovic, who in August was promoted to the position of President of ABC News. Dinan will be reporting to Karamehmedovic.

Karamehmedovic praised Chris, stating that he is both an accomplished producer and talented storyteller who has been instrumental in ‘World News Tonight’ for 13 years. He has significantly contributed to the development of the newscast and consistently provided top-quality reporting for our audience. Karamehmedovic expressed confidence that Chris’s strong leadership and close collaboration with David, along with the entire ABC News team, will continue to elevate the broadcast to even greater heights.

Dinan began working at ABC News back in 2011, and assumed his current position in 2014. Among the three prime-time network news programs, “World News Tonight” is the highest-rated, sometimes even competing with the most popular linear TV shows overall. This program goes head-to-head in ratings with “NBC Nightly News,” led by Lester Holt, and “CBS Evening News,” headed by Norah O’Donnell. After the 2024 presidential election, CBS intends to revamp their program and introduce a rotating team of anchors, including John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois.

Initially, Dinan kicked off his professional journey at CBS News. There, he served as both a senior and on-site producer for anchors Dan Rather and Katie Couric. Over time, he ascended to the role of chief broadcast producer for “CBS Evening News.

Enjoli Francis, Jennifer Metz, and Brian Reiferson, our experienced producers, will assume extra responsibilities for live broadcast production within the control room for “World News Tonight.
