A Wild Bug Causing Cars To Float In Gran Turismo 7 Is Being Investigated

As a long-time fan of racing games and Gran Turismo in particular, I was thrilled when the latest update for Gran Turismo 7 dropped yesterday. I had heard that this update would bring significant improvements to the driving physics, making the experience even more realistic and immersive.

The latest Gran Turismo 7 upgrade has led to some unexpectedly humorous malfunctions, which Polyphony Digital is currently looking into.

Yesterday saw the rollout of update 1.49 for the game, which promised enhancements to its driving mechanics, focusing on better tire responsiveness and more authentic weight transfer during turns. Yet, according to IGN’s reports, players have encountered some unexpected issues: cars bouncing erratically and, in some instances, seemingly vanishing into the racetrack.

In the videos, you can see cars behaving erratically – they bounce around as if they were inflatables, sink into the ground unexpectedly, and even seem to take flight like rockets. This odd spectacle stands in stark contrast to Gran Turismo’s reputation as a realistic driving simulation.

The developer acknowledged the issue on Twitter, explaining that certain car settings can unintentionally cause unusual vehicle behavior. They are now investigating the problem and express their regret for any trouble caused.

Gran Turismo 7 can be played on both PS4 and PS5 consoles. Its developer has hinted at the possibility of releasing the game on PC at a later stage. In our review of Gran Turismo 7 for GameSpot, we stated, “Gran Turismo delivers heart-pounding races, breathtaking graphics, and familiar faces. It’s an exhilarating addition to the series that is truly a generation leap forward.”
