Originally launched for the initial Nintendo Switch console in 2017, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will have another chance to shine as an upgraded version is set to release for the upcoming Switch 2. In addition to its sequel, Tears of the Kingdom, and other exclusive Nintendo titles debuting this June with the console, Nintendo has been traveling the globe by showcasing the console and various games in numerous international cities.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Exhibition took place simultaneously in Dallas, Texas, USA, and Tokyo, Japan on the weekend of April 26th-27th, 2025. At the Japanese event, a skilled player participated in the playtesting sessions to try out one of the demo games, which was the Switch 2 adaptation of Breath of the Wild. This player then shared their gameplay footage on their YouTube channel, attracting thousands of views as they completed the game remarkably quickly.

At the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience held in Tokyo last weekend, several sources, including Nintendo Life and VGC, revealed that the speedrunner who impressed everyone was none other than Ikaboze. On April 27th, 2025, his YouTube video was uploaded displaying his exceptional skills and strategies he employed within the game. Before starting his demo, which is limited to a ten-minute playtime, he selected one of the available save files to showcase his expertise.
In this speedrunning scenario, the player loaded a saved game that instantly thrust them into an epic showdown against Ganon. However, before the battle began, all of Link’s gear was taken away. Ikaboze didn’t just manage to conquer Ganon within the ten-minute time limit (he completed it in seven minutes), but he also drew a crowd who were astounded by his impressive display at the live event. It’s highly probable that Ikaboze was the first person to defeat Ganon in the Breath of the Wild Switch 2 version.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but marvel at Ikaboze’s extraordinary accomplishment, even though Nintendo hasn’t officially commented on it yet. His video is steadily racking up more and more views as the minutes tick by. Excitingly, the enhanced version of Breath of the Wild will be globally released for Switch 2 consoles on June 5th, 2025. For those who haven’t got the game yet or want an upgrade, it launches as a complete game or an Upgrade Pack respectively, for those who already own it on their original Switch console.
