A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead Developer Diary Reveals Sneak Peeks At The Game

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for survival horror games, I must say that Saber Interactive’s A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead has me intrigued. Having grown up on games like Amnesia and Outlast, where sneaking past monstrous creatures was the name of the game, this new title seems to be right up my alley.

Saber Interactive just unveiled a developer diary for A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, revealing some all-new gameplay and showing off the game’s tense hide-and-seek encounters against enormous, foreboding beasts.

According to lead game designer Manuel Moavero, conventional hiding strategies won’t work with these creatures because they react more to sounds than sights, much like the beings portrayed in the A Quiet Place movie series that inspired the game.

Developers have given characters a flashlight and sound detector to aid players in exploring the world and dealing with dangerous creatures more effectively. Although these items can’t be used to fight off adversaries, as Moavero explained, they serve unique purposes in their own right.

The flashlight will guide you through dark spaces and keep you away from noise sources. Meanwhile, a device called a phonometer measures both the sound you produce and the ambient noise. By understanding these sounds with the help of the phonometer, you could perhaps identify running water and utilize it to mask the sounds of your actions.

“Whatever you do, just don’t make a sound,” Moavero warns.
