As a die-hard fan of survival horror games and the A Quiet Place franchise, I can hardly contain my excitement for A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead! Having experienced the heart-pounding tension of the films firsthand, I am eager to step into this terrifying world and test my nerve in a completely new way.
In just this past year, a film series by Paramount called “A Quiet Place” has set guidelines for the aliens within its universe. These creatures lack sight, but possess extraordinary hearing abilities. Even the subtlest sounds can spell disaster for the last of mankind on Earth. This concept is being further developed in the upcoming video game “A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead”. In this game, players will not only need to remain quiet within the game world, but must also ensure utmost silence if they choose to keep their microphones active.
In a recent release, Saber Interactive and Stormind Games showcased a live-action video highlighting The Road Ahead’s microphone detection feature. This feature is an optional setting, allowing players to toggle it on or off at their discretion. For those seeking an intense gaming experience, enabling this feature could potentially expose their in-game position if there are sounds within their surroundings, even the subtlest noises. As seen in the trailer, this tactic didn’t bode well for the character portrayed.
It’s not hard to guess that The Road Ahead recommends stealth and evasion rather than confronting the alien invaders head-on. In reality, Earth has become their territory, and humans are a threatened species on our own planet. When the aliens locate a target, it doesn’t matter if you run – they relentlessly chase after any remaining survivors.
In essence, although The Road Ahead shares some similarities with the Quiet Place films, it’s a separate, self-contained tale focusing on Alex, a college student, who is navigating life alongside her partner, Martin. However, Alex struggles with asthma, and any respiratory issues she encounters could potentially draw unwanted attention to their situation.
A Quiet Day: The Road Ahead will hit PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 17.
