A new Aliens video game featuring the terrifying Xenomorph is in development, and it’s already received a high rating from the ESRB due to its intense violence.
The Xenomorph is a fantastic villain, so it’s great to see it featured in video games. While many games haven’t done it justice, there have been some real successes, like the critically acclaimed Alien: Isolation.
So, I was checking out the gaming news, and it looks like Aliens: Fireteam Elite might be getting a sequel! I saw on the Gaming Leaks and Rumours subreddit that a rating appeared on the ESRB website, which is pretty exciting, even though the developers haven’t officially said anything about it yet. Fireteam Elite came out in 2021, and I’m hoping this means we’ll be blasting more Xenomorphs soon!
What Is Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2?

Aliens: Fireteam Elite was a cooperative, third-person shooter where players controlled marines battling the Xenomorphs. You could also choose a specific class for your marine, giving them unique skills and abilities. The upcoming game will likely continue this same style of gameplay.
It’s surprising no one’s talked about this game until now. With the major summer gaming showcases over, the ideal time for an announcement has passed. It’s likely we’ll hear more around Halloween, and the game probably won’t come out until 2026.
The game received an ‘M for Mature’ rating, which isn’t surprising given its intense content – expect blood, gore, violence, and strong language. This is typical for games in the Aliens franchise, so the rating doesn’t offer any new clues about the story beyond the fact that characters will likely die.
I’m really enjoying the direction the Aliens franchise is going, especially after that fantastic first season of Alien: Earth! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the developers don’t make us wait too long and announce Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 soon – I’m eager to see what they come up with!
