For the second consecutive weekend, “A Minecraft Movie” produced by Warner Bros. and Legendary continued to dominate the U.K. and Ireland box office, raking in an additional £7.2 million ($9.3 million) as per Comscore’s data. This impressive earnings build upon its successful opening weekend, setting new records.
The movie has earned a total of $40.1 million, making it the dominant box office hit of the year thus far.
On the weekends box office, Disney’s spy thriller “The Amateur” debuted as the highest earner, taking the second spot with a gross of $1.4 million. Meanwhile, Universal’s musical adaptation “Six the Musical” maintained its leading position on the chart, collecting an additional $1.1 million in its second weekend and now boasting a total revenue of $5 million.
On the weekend, one of the most memorable performances was “Andre Rieu’s 75th Birthday Celebration: The Dream Continues,” presented by Piece Of Magic Entertainment. This two-day-only concert film gracefully found its place in fourth position, earning $771,116, which is quite impressive for an event cinema release commemorating the significant year of the cherished Dutch violinist and conductor, Andre Rieu.
In its fourth week of release, Disney’s “Snow White” slid down to the fifth position at the box office, earning a gross of $530,944, pushing its overall revenue to approximately $11.8 million.
In the sixth and seventh spots during its opening weekend, Universal’s suspenseful film “Drop” earned $494,969, while Trafalgar Releasing’s faith-based production “The Chosen: The Last Supper – Episodes 1 & 2” took in $331,857. This brings the former’s cumulative total to $552,658.
A new film titled “Good Bad Ugly” by DJ Tech LTD, driven by Ajith Kumar, has arrived at number eight, earning $327,016. This further boosts the robust presence of South Asian cinema in the U.K. and Ireland.
In its second weekend, Entertainment Film Distributors’ movie “The Death of a Unicorn” earned $231,779, bringing its overall total to an impressive $1.3 million.
I’m thrilled to share that “A Working Man” by Warner Bros., a film I wholeheartedly support, managed to secure a spot among the top 10 with an impressive earning of $168,506 this week. This brings its cumulative box office revenue to a fantastic $2.2 million after three weeks. Keep supporting great cinema!
This week, a diverse range of fresh movies are set to debut in U.K. and Irish cinemas as we approach the Easter long weekend. On Wednesday, April 16th, Sony will premiere “Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon,” which is the newest anime movie based on the widely acclaimed manga series.
This Thursday, April 17th, I’m super excited about the premiere of “My Love Will Make You Disappear,” a heartwarming romantic comedy from Ceema Entertainment, featuring my favorite Filipino duo, Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino. Additionally, midweek brings us “Neil Young: Coastal,” a captivating music documentary directed by Daryl Hannah, distributed by Trafalgar Releasing. Can’t wait to catch both!
April 18th marks the arrival of an assortment of fresh titles. Warner Bros. kicks off with the eerie horror film “Sinners.” Lionsgate U.K. brings us two new offerings: “The Penguin Lessons,” a touching movie adaptation from Tom Michell’s memoir about saving a penguin in 1970s Argentina, starring Steve Coogan and Jonathan Pryce, and “Freaky Tales,” a genre-bending story set in 1980s Oakland with interconnected short stories, featuring Pedro Pascal.
In contemporary times, Modern Films unveils the documentary titled “Blue Road: The Tale of Edna O’Brien,” which delves into the intriguing life and enduring literary impact of the esteemed Irish writer.
In “Warfare,” A24 brings the grueling 2006 Navy SEAL operation in Ramadi, Iraq, vividly and realistically to the screen, a project of Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza.
Additionally, this week brings the 20th anniversary remake of “Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit,” the renowned stop-motion Oscar winner from Aardman Studios, which will be shown in theaters once again thanks to Park Circus.
wrapping up the current week is the Bollywood patriotic movie “Kesari Chapter 2,” starring Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan, and distributed by Moviegoers Entertainment.
