‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Episode 4 Lands Highest ‘Game of Thrones’ IMDB Score

When the series first appeared on HBO Max, it quickly gained a following, though some viewers struggled with its departure from the dragon-focused storylines of the original Game of Thrones, instead following the adventures of Ser Duncan and Egg. Now, after four episodes, the show is receiving significant acclaim, with the latest episode achieving one of the highest IMDb scores across the entire Game of Thrones franchise.

As many originally predicted, once fans have grown used to this less spectacular but completely character-driven return to Westeros, the show can do very little wrong. That has been proven as the series hit a new high with a 9.7 score, the same as was achieved by several Game of Thrones episodes, including Season 3, Episode 9, “The Rains of Castamere” aka the “Red Wedding” episode, and the final two episodes of Season 6, “The Battle of the Bastards” and “The Winds of Winter.” It also matched House of the Dragon‘s Season 2, Episode 4, “The Red Dragon and the Gold.”

I’ve been completely hooked on this new Game of Thrones series, and Episode 3, “The Squire,” was a real turning point. It finally confirmed Egg’s Targaryen heritage, and even those of us who already knew from the books thought it was brilliantly done. Honestly, the show just keeps getting better and better – a lot of people are saying it’s practically perfect! It feels like this series has really found its footing, and Episode 3 was the moment everything clicked into place.

After the shocking events of the last episode, Ser Duncan is headed for a dangerous confrontation with the Targaryens. It seemed he would have to fight a duel to the death, but Aerion Targaryen unexpectedly demanded a battle with seven fighters on each side. Now, Dunk must find six allies to stand with him if he hopes to survive.
