A Death-Themed Sims DLC Appears To Be In Development

As a long-time Sims player and avid follower of the community, I’m thrilled about the recent Lovestruck expansion and the potential for a death-based DLC that’s rumored to be in the works. The idea of expanding on Sims’ love lives is exciting, but the prospect of exploring death and the afterlife within the game is even more intriguing.

In simple terms, the latest expansion for The Sims 4 named “Lovestruck” adds excitement to Sims’ romantic experiences. However, their lives could be drastically changed with the anticipated arrival of a rumored death-related DLC.

The story began with well-known Sims YouTuber Lilsimsie initiating a live broadcast, showcasing the Lovestruck expansion’s novel offerings, among which was a poster of an elderly Sim running. “It’s not necessary to motivate senior Sims to work out, that’s embarrassing!” she quipped playfully.

An EA employee named SimsGuruNinja, who is involved with the game, unexpectedly joined the conversation. His reply, though intriguing and vague, was, “Have no fear. Elders will pass away more gracefully soon.”

Predictably, the livestream’s chat exploded with excitement, with Lilsimsie demanding answers.

“What do you know?!” she asked.

SimsGuruNinja replied, “Meant elder [Sims] will LOVE better soon.”

According to the smiley faces in SimsGuruNinja’s response, it appeared that he wasn’t ready to reveal his hand just yet, as his message didn’t make sense in terms of love based on Lilsimsie’s initial query regarding the exercise poster.

EA and Maxis have a history of including subtle clues about upcoming expansion packs in newly released DLCs. For instance, elderly Sims often meet an untimely end due to overdoing cardio workouts or excessive “WooHooing,” even in DLCs primarily centered around romance. The unusual presence of a poster depicting an elderly Sim engaging in cardio exercises in such a DLC has fueled rumors that this could be a hint towards the upcoming expansion pack’s theme.

Sims insiders, including content creators, leakers, and developers, have dropped hints about an upcoming expansion pack focused on death. One creator, known for correctly predicting the release of Lovestruck, expressed her strong desire for this new pack by tweeting, “To be honest, I’d give up everything for another expansion pack this year.” Additionally, a well-known Sims expert shared a mysterious tweet suggesting she’s working on something significant that doesn’t relate to the Lovestruck expansion pack, which is scheduled for release on July 25.

There’s strong indications of an upcoming deadly new DLC based on clues hidden in the game’s code. Data miners have unearthed a preliminary plan suggesting another expansion pack is in development, with only two other DLCs (possibly game packs, stuff packs, or kits) slated for release before it. The game files reveal this sequence of releases: [sequence mentioned here].

  • Expansion Pack 16 (The Sims 4 Lovestruck expansion)
  • The Sims 4 DLC 84
  • The Sims 4 DLC 85
  • Expansion Pack 17 (possible “Drop Dead” expansion)
  • The Sims 4 DLC 86
  • The Sims 4 DLC 87
  • The Sims 4 DLC 88
  • The Sims 4 DLC 89
  • Expansion Pack 18 (unknown expansion)

EA has not announced any details about an upcoming expansion pack, nicknamed “Drop Dead,” for The Sims game. However, considering it’s almost Halloween, releasing a DLC with a death theme would be fitting. Moreover, as EA and Maxis have been focusing on enhancing Sims’ romantic relationships, it’s worth considering adding features for ghost-Sims as well. Players can now customize wedding details, so why not offer them the chance to plan elaborate funerals and discover innovative ways to eliminate their unwanted Sims?

In this game franchise, death plays a significant role with various humorous methods for Sims to meet their end. These include being crushed by a malfunctioning Murphy bed or a falling meteor, or drowning after someone removes the ladder from the pool. However, if a Sim comes across a rare flower and uses it to beg for the life of a deceased Sim, the Grim Reaper might reconsider his decision and let them live. Alternatively, Sims can opt to let their virtual family member pass away and then pursue a relationship with the Grim Reaper instead.
