Between two highly popular vacation spots along the coasts of the United States – Disneyland on one side and Walt Disney World on the other – these iconic destinations attract countless visitors each year. It’s likely, given your location, that you frequent one over the other, as many people have a favorite they return to annually.
For those who’ve visited Disneyland multiple times, a journey to Walt Disney World could be a long-awaited dream come true. Upon arrival, however, you might find that the Magic Kingdom at Disney World is not quite the familiar destination you imagined. A funny video captures the reactions of some “Disneyland moms” as they navigate Disney World, experiences that I’m sure many people will find relatable.

As a frequent visitor to theme parks from California, having spent countless times within Disneyland without a blindfold, I’ve become quite accustomed to its layout. However, stepping into Magic Kingdom at Disney World, despite my extensive travels between the two, always stirs up a unique sensation. Though Disneyland and Magic Kingdom share many similarities, they also exhibit differences that make them feel like alternate realities of one another. Familiar, yet strange – these parks offer an experience that is both comforting and intriguing at the same time.
Although jokes about Epcot and Disney’s Animal Kingdom may not resonate, the humor centered around Magic Kingdom is right on target, particularly the jest regarding It’s A Small World attraction. While it is one of the finest attractions at Disneyland for its exterior design, it falls short in comparison at the Magic Kingdom. The absence of Matterhorn definitely distorts the skyline’s appearance.
Although both parks share numerous similar attractions, there are distinct differences that allow for an honest comparison. The quality of attractions is equally divided between Disneyland and Disney World, meaning there are just as many outstanding attractions in one park as the other.
Despite sharing some popular attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion, these two parks – Magic Kingdom and Disneyland’s New Orleans Square – have significantly different layouts. In Florida’s Magic Kingdom, Pirates of the Caribbean is located in Adventureland, a much larger section compared to its counterpart. Conversely, Haunted Mansion can be found in Liberty Square, an area that took the place of New Orleans Square in Florida.
I’d like to mention a funny observation I’ve noticed among fellow Disney enthusiasts: While “Disney World moms” often poke fun at Disneyland, it works both ways. Jokes like, “Why is the castle so small?” are popular on both sides. In essence, all the humor is just part of the camaraderie that arises from our shared love for these magical places. At the end of the day, it’s essential to visit both Disney World and Disneyland because their unique offerings enrich the experience of any dedicated fan.
