The team watched the original “The Breed” and found it to be a typical creature movie of its time. However, they felt it might not appeal to their intended audience due to its straightforward approach. Furst expressed his desire to make the sequel distinctive, avoiding another standard creature feature. Instead, he suggested making it a comedy.
