A 37-minute Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay on Switch 2 looks promising. The game runs way smoother than before

Time’s flying by, as I’ve only got about three weeks left (touch wood) until my Switch 2 is here! We already know its inner workings thanks to the spec unveiling, but how games will truly perform is still a bit of an enigma, particularly with major titles ports. However, after viewing 37 minutes of Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay footage, it seems this compact powerhouse might handle such games quite impressively.

Bit blurry, but at least it’s smooth

Recently, it’s been shared that Pawel Sasko, the designer behind the quests in Cyberpunk 2077, has expressed great satisfaction with how the game performs on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Those who got a chance to play it at global Switch 2 Experience events seemed quite hopeful as well. However, we now have an exciting update – a brand new 37-minute gameplay video of Cyberpunk 2077 running smoothly on the Switch 2 was unveiled just yesterday.

The video presents various aspects of the game, including driving through Night City, intense battles, and dramatic cutscenes. What makes it intriguing is that early hands-on feedback from closed-door demos on the Switch 2 suggested potential performance problems. Testers noted that the frame rate was inconsistent, which has raised doubts among some people about the claims made a month ago by Tim Green from CD Projekt Red.

It appears as though this recent footage indicates that many of the initial issues have been addressed, since the gameplay maintains a consistent 30 frames per second. One likely factor contributing to this could be Nvidia’s DLSS technology, which allows for better visuals without overloading the console’s hardware by rendering the game at a lower resolution and then upscaling it.

Some individuals might find certain action or driving sequences a bit hazy, yet it’s essential to remember that YouTube’s compression could impact video clarity. To be sure, it’s a notable reduction compared to what you’d see on a PlayStation 5 or top-tier PC, but we’re discussing a handheld device here. Frankly, I wouldn’t have anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 performing this well on something portable! I must say I’m genuinely impressed and eager to experience it personally. At least CD Projekt RED has pledged that it won’t be as chaotic as it was on PS4 or Xbox One, and that’s already a significant improvement.
