Legend of Zelda movie leak reveals Severance star and it’s obvious who she’s playing

Details are emerging about the upcoming live-action Legend of Zelda movie, and recent set photos suggest actress Dichen Lachman, known for her role in ‘Severance,’ has been cast. It seems clear which character she’ll be playing based on the images.

The upcoming Legend of Zelda movie seems promising, as it’s being made by a true fan of the long-running and beloved video game series. Director Wes Ball, known for The Maze Runner films, has said he wants to create a movie that fans will truly enjoy.

The movie is scheduled to come out on March 26, 2027. After a lot of guessing, we now know who will play Zelda and Link: Bo Bragason will be Zelda, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will be Link.

Okay, so not a ton is known yet, but a new video from the set just dropped and it looks like Dichen Lachman is joining the cast! I’m super excited – it seems pretty confirmed now.

Even though Nintendo and Sony haven’t officially said she’ll be involved, the actress looks remarkably like the character in the leaked footage. Sarah Lachman is well-known for her excellent portrayal of Ms. Casey, and fans would be thrilled to see her join the cast of The Legend of Zelda.

The theories about Impa stem from how she looks on set: she has long, braided gray hair, a long-sleeved shirt, a wide leather belt, and a blade similar to a naginata.

Okay, so this outfit? It totally feels like Impa from a lot of the games, especially Hyrule Warriors and Age of Calamity. You know, where she’s this awesome, strong warrior protecting Zelda? It really nails that look!

Okay, so seeing her with Zelda in the footage totally lines up with this theory. Honestly, a lot of us fans are convinced it’s Impa – I saw someone online ask, “Is that definitely Impa?” and everyone seemed to agree!

Someone exclaimed, “Impa, oh my gosh!” Another person wondered if the gray-haired woman by the horse might be Impa. Someone else responded that they weren’t sure, but believed the actress was Dichan Lachman.

Another chimed in, “Yes, really she is. And she fits well with Impa.”

The discussion on Reddit is similar, with one user suggesting the elderly woman might be similar to the character Impa. Another agreed, pointing out her white hair, which is a common trait of Impa.

One viewer pointed out the actress resembled Dichen Lachman, and another agreed, suggesting it was a significant casting reveal that hadn’t been publicly announced yet.

One person commented that she’s perfectly cast as Impa, and interestingly, she also appeared in a small part in Wes Ball’s recent film, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Directors often enjoy collaborating with actors they know well. Just my opinion, but Kevin Durand and Aiden Gillen would both be fantastic choices for the role of Ganon. We’ll have to wait and see who they cast.

Additional video footage reveals Link sporting a green tunic, indicating the main characters’ designs take inspiration from the game Breath of the Wild.

Because nothing is confirmed yet and the costumes seem to be inspired by multiple games, we’ll have to wait and see how everything looks when the live-action Zelda movie is released.

Someone mentioned the costumes will likely be based on the game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, referencing both Zelda’s blue outfit and Link’s green one.

One person guessed that she’ll eventually wear a traditional, formal princess gown, but a simpler outfit is more practical for traveling. They also pointed out that with Impa present in the scene, the character might be trying to avoid attention, making the less conspicuous clothing a deliberate choice.

Right now, we can only guess what’s happening. While we’re waiting for more information, you can check out our articles explaining why Nintendo made the right decision to delay the Zelda movie and what we learned from the new Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer.
