The death of a young girl named Amber Phillips (played by Hadley Smith) after a drowning accident is particularly difficult to watch. The scene where Mel King (Taylor Dearden) comforts Amber’s sister, Bella (Olivia Fokova), is especially memorable and upsetting.

This episode is particularly heartbreaking, even for a medical drama. While Grey’s Anatomy often features tragic patient stories, Amber’s case feels especially dark and sad. The situation is made even more difficult by Bella being too young to grasp what’s happening and the grandmother’s overwhelming guilt about the accident – it’s a truly heavy storyline.

Dana is a key character, and her story ended sadly in season one, so we can expect season two of The Pitt to be just as emotionally powerful as the episode “2:00 P.M.”. If season 2 of The Pitt includes meaningful conversations between the doctors and staff at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, it’s likely to be just as good as the first season. And, knowing this HBO Max medical drama, we can probably expect a lot of tears when it returns in January 2026.
