Today brought disappointing news for gamers, as both the highly awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 and the Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra game were announced to be delayed. This is the second delay for the Marvel game, which was initially scheduled for release this year before being moved to early 2026 in May. Fans have only seen a brief cinematic trailer of the game, revealed at the State of Unreal event in 2024.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra delayed a second time, pushed further into 2026
The upcoming Marvel game, set in Paris during World War II, features Black Panther and Captain America in a visually stunning adventure. The trailer hints at a rivalry between the two heroes as they pursue a common objective, ultimately leading to a confrontation where they both demand the other step aside. Directed by Amy Hennig, known for her work on the Uncharted series, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra looks promising if it comes to fruition.
The team explained the delay in a social media post, stating that Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is a large-scale project and they want to make sure it meets high standards for both the development team and players. They’ve decided to push back the release date, originally planned for early 2026, to fully achieve their vision for the game. However, they didn’t provide any new details about when players can actually expect it to come out.
It’s worrying that we still know very little about this game, especially since it’s already been delayed twice this year. While it’s unfair to compare it to Grand Theft Auto 6, that game was also delayed today, but at least they gave a firm release date. GTA 6 has also released two trailers, whereas Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra still only has one.
I’m really hyped about Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra! It looks like it’s going to be a seriously beautiful game, pushing the boundaries of what we’ve seen graphically. But, I think it’s best to hold off getting too excited until we see more – like another trailer or some actual gameplay. Patience is key!
