I’m a big fan of Dungeons & Dragons, and I really enjoyed the virtual reality game, Demeo. So, I was immediately excited when Resolution Games announced they were working with Wizards of the Coast on a new D&D-themed game inspired by Demeo. Demeo X Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked includes classic D&D elements like Paladins, Rogues, spells, and exciting adventures with monsters. Initially, Resolution Games focused on the first adventure, Embers of Chaos, set near the city of Neverwinter. Now, they’ve revealed the second adventure, The Crown of Frost.
Okay, so after finishing the Embers of Chaos campaign, the story jumps forward and takes us way up north! We’re heading to Icewind Dale, near the Spine of the World – it’s a really cool, classic location in the Forgotten Realms. Here’s what the new campaign, Crown of Frost, is all about…
Your adventure begins as Icewind Dale prepares for a looming war. Armies are massing at Frost Keep, and unusual sightings of Frost Giants have been reported. Players will brave the freezing wilderness, facing dangers like dire wolves and other creatures adapted to the cold, as they travel from the struggling town of Ten-Town to the towering Spine of the World mountains. Along the way, you’ll encounter a variety of allies and enemies, including giants, ravens, goblins, kobolds, slaadi, and many more.
I spoke with Matt Sernett, the narrative lead for Battlemarked and formerly the Lore Master at Wizards of the Coast, about the story differences between Crown and Embers of Chaos. He explained that the first book has a more serious tone, beginning with the threat of an impending war and a mystery to solve. The second book also involves a potential war, but this time the enemy is gathering in the mountains. While the stakes are high, the story has a slightly lighter feel. Instead of finding serious war preparations, the characters often encounter silly goblins or kobolds, adding a bit of humor to their mission.
Battlemarked delivers a dungeon-crawling RPG experience similar to Demeo, but with a greater focus on storytelling and character progression. Instead of just tackling increasingly difficult dungeons, teams of up to four players (playing together on any platform) will complete skill checks, side quests, and explore richer campaign narratives – though dungeons are still a core part of the game! A demo on Steam lets you try the first few levels of the first campaign, choosing from characters like the Dragonborn Paladin, Bolthrax, or Tibby the Gnome. The full game will allow you to level up and customize your characters with names, colors, and special artifacts that are reflected on their in-game miniature.
When Battlemarked releases on PC (with and without VR), Meta Quest, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation VR2 on November 20th, it will include both the Embers of Chaos and Crown of Frost content.

Press Release
The second campaign for Demeo x DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Battlemarked, titled ‘Crown of Frost’, will be available on November 20th.
A new campaign has been added to the game, joining the already available Embers of Chaos. Both campaigns will be playable on PC, PlayStation, and Meta Quest on launch day.
Following a successful demo of the first campaign, ‘Embers of Chaos,’ during Steam Next Fest, Resolution Games announced details for the next chapter of Demeo x DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Battlemarked. Launching November 20th on Steam, PlayStation, and Meta Quest, Book 2: ‘Crown of Frost’ sends players on a new adventure to the frozen north of the Forgotten Realms, filled with mystery, combat, and challenging quests. This digital tabletop experience offers a unique way to enjoy the magic of Dungeons & Dragons.
Matt Sernett, a narrative designer and former writer for Wizards of the Coast, believes the strength of Dungeons & Dragons comes from its immersive locations as much as its heroes. He points to places like Icewind Dale and Frost Keep as examples of settings that feel like characters themselves. This new campaign, set in those kinds of rich environments – unlike previously announced settings like Neverwinter Wood and Cragmaw Castle – allows them to offer two complete campaigns at launch, showcasing the variety of adventures available in the Forgotten Realms.
Your adventure begins as the region of Icewind Dale prepares for conflict. Armies are massing at Frost Keep, and unusual Frost Giant activity has been reported. Players will brave the frozen wilderness, facing dangers like dire wolves, as they travel from the struggling town of Lonelywood to the towering Spine of the World mountains. Along the way, expect to encounter a variety of creatures – both allies and enemies – including giants, ravens, goblins, kobolds, and more.
