The sixth episode of Slow Horses Season 5 delivered a thrilling conclusion, and that explains why a new episode isn’t airing this week.
Apple TV’s ‘Slow Horses’ is a critically acclaimed show based on the bestselling novels by Mick Heron.
The show features Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, a veteran spy who leads a team of failed or exiled MI5 agents. They operate from a rundown office building called Slough House.
In the fifth season of Slow Horses, the team worked to dismantle a terrorist group, but that storyline isn’t continuing in this week’s episode. Be warned: spoilers follow…
Why there’s no episode of Slow Horses Season 5 Episode 7 this week

There’s no Slow Horses Season 5 Episode 7 this week because Episode 6 was the series finale.
This fits with the show’s pattern – each of the five seasons of Slow Horses has had six episodes.
In Episode 6, the Slow Horses successfully stopped the Libyan terrorists both at the Abbostfield memorial and while Whelan was out running.
Whelan attempts to shut down Slough House and pin the blame on its staff, but Lamb turns the tables, blackmailing Whelan into taking responsibility, resigning, and allowing the Slow Horses to continue operating. This sets up the events for the next season.
Will there be a Slow Horses Season 6?
Yes, Slow Horses Season 6 is being made, and will arrive on Apple TV sometime in 2026.

So, this season of the show is based on a book called ‘Joe Country’ by Mick Herron – it came out in 2019. Basically, here’s what the story’s about…
At Slough House, a dumping ground for spies who’ve messed up, everyone is haunted by unpleasant memories. Catherine Standish is turning to alcohol again, Louisa Guy is still struggling with a past relationship, and the newest member, Lech Wicinski, is fixated on finding out what ruined his career, even if it means destroying what’s left of his life. He’s so damaged, even his fellow outcasts at Slough House keep their distance.
Now that winter has arrived, Jackson Lamb would prefer to be left alone with his thoughts. However, he can’t ignore a murder that’s literally landed on his doorstep. When the person who killed a racehorse finally appears, Lamb dispatches his team to get revenge. Their mission takes them into dangerous territory, and not everyone will make it back alive.
Okay, so at the end of Season 5, they dropped a trailer for Season 6, and it looks like things are really heating up. Jackson Lamb basically laid it out: someone has a file with all our names – the Slow Horses – and now we’re the ones being hunted. It seems like most of the next season was actually filmed already, which is pretty cool.
The video shows a funeral – the identity of the deceased is unknown – and the reappearance of River’s father, Frank Harkness, portrayed once more by Hugo Weaving.
And it doesn’t end there, with Season 7 also green-lit, and based on the book ‘Slough House.’
