Nacon and Midgar Studio, the creators of Edge of Eternity, have just released a new trailer revealing more of the story for their upcoming action RPG, Edge of Memories.
Edge of Memories will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (through Steam) in 2026. If you haven’t seen it yet, the announcement trailer from February 2025 is available here. I was so excited to see the new story trailer for Edge of Memories at the Galaxies Gaming Showcase! NACON and the team at Midgar Studio (they’re based in France!) finally gave us a really good look at the game’s world, the characters, and what the story is all about. It looks amazing, and I can’t wait to play it when it comes out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2026.
Inspired by the beautiful art styles of French animation and Japanese anime, Edge of Memories is a story-driven game that feels like a classic JRPG. Developed with writer Sawako Natori (known for NieR), it explores big ideas like forced migration, the struggle against illness, discovering where we come from, and learning to survive in a world that’s constantly changing.
For generations, the world of Heryon has suffered from the Corrosion, a terrible plague that turns creatures and people into monsters. Now, even the nomadic tribes of Avaris, who had previously avoided this fate, are facing destruction. Eline, a young woman who wanders the land helping those in pain, finds her life turned upside down when she develops a strange power linked to the Corrosion itself. This power allows her to transform into the Black Beast, a form capable of incredible destruction and allowing her to swiftly and brutally defeat her enemies.
With the help of Ysoris, a surprising teacher, and Kanta, a prince and shaman from a forgotten people, the heroes set out on a dangerous quest. They must save their world, face powerful enemies, and discover the cause of the mysterious plague that’s destroying it.
Their incredible journey will lead them through Avaris, a dangerous place filled with powerful enemies. They’ll confront Ziegler, a shadowy character connected to the mysterious Corrosion, and the Apex, a god-like being who claims to know everything about time. They’ll also have to contend with the Sanctorium, a ruthless religious group that controls Avaris and performs cruel experiments on people, hoping to understand the Corrosion and offer a way out of desperation.
