Battlefield 6 Devs Lay Out Updates And Changes Ahead Of Season 1

So, Battlefield 6 Season 1 is almost here, and the devs at Battlefield Studios are already planning ahead, which is awesome! They actually showed us some of the changes coming to the battle royale mode before it even launched, which was a cool move. Now they’ve dropped the full list of improvements they’re working on for the rest of the season, and I’m really excited to see what’s coming!

Battlefield Studios is currently working on making the game run better and improving how combat feels. Here are the latest updates they’ve released:

Live Now

  • Custom Search: We’ve made some adjustments to improve how accurately matchmaking aligns with your selected map and mode preferences. The system still maintains flexibility to support reasonable queue times, so players with more specific selections may notice slightly longer waits. We’ll keep monitoring Custom Search performance and continue fine-tuning as needed.
  • Vehicle Spawn Bug: We recently deployed a targeted backend change to address an issue where vehicles could sometimes fail to spawn as expected across certain maps and modes. The current results have shown that it has greatly reduced the number of occurrences and started to improve the balance issues on some map/mode combinations. We are aware of a few outliers that this fix did not address, and we’re working on a fix to resolve these outstanding issues. We also saw that this backend change had a slightly positive impact on Breakthrough win rates, but we are working on further balancing changes that are meant to be more impactful and bring the win rates into a better state.
  • Portal Server Availability: Earlier this week, we made XP adjustments for Community Experiences. In case you missed it, check out the details

The development team announced they’re planning improvements to how players move and are working to make the view more stable when characters are animating. They also confirmed they’re aware that earning experience points in Escalation and King of the Hill isn’t always reliable and are investigating the problem. Here’s a look at some of the other updates and changes they’re considering:

  • Class Assignment – Assault 1: Get kills while using the Adrenaline Injector – 30 to 3
  • Class Assignment – Engineer Expert 3: Repair Vehicles in a Match – From 6000 to 1000
  • Weapon Assignment – Deadeye 2: Get headshot kills over 200m with Sniper Rifles – from 150 to 5

An upcoming update will shorten the 200-meter distance. The developers are also looking into complaints about the bright light in Battlefield 6 and plan to lessen its impact when players look outside. This issue, along with other visibility problems, will be addressed with broader fixes later this season.

On October 28th, we’re releasing Season 1 Update 1, which improves weapon accuracy. This update ensures all weapons perform as expected, and we’ve also fixed some bugs that were causing accuracy issues after moving.

Battlefield Studios explained that they shut down the XP farm servers because they were negatively impacting other parts of the Portal experience. They assured players they’ll continue to update Portal to improve matchmaking and the overall gameplay experience.

The following updates were made today:

  • Verified Experiences with “Bot Backfill” disabled continue to grant Full Progression and XP.
  • Custom Experiences will continue earning reduced progression, regardless of whether bots are active. This keeps creative freedom and allows you to express yourself within Portal while maintaining progression balance.

So, Battlefield Labs is taking a break for now. Battlefield Studios said they’re putting it on hold while they get Season 1 out the door. They will bring it back eventually, but they also said it was a huge help getting ready for Battlefield 6 – it really let us test things out and get ready for launch. It was super valuable, honestly.

Battlefield 6 has proven to be a huge commercial success, selling over 7 million copies. It recently reached its highest point in player activity, with more than 747,000 people playing at the same time.
