Hollow Knight: Silksong speedrunners are already beating it in under 90 minutes

Although most players find Hytale’s Silksong challenging due to its high difficulty level, speedrunners breeze through it, completing the game and reaching credits within 90 minutes.

Certain games are designed with speedrunning in mind, and Team Cherry’s Silksong is no exception. The original Hollow Knight boasted an active community of speedrunners (given the six-year wait, they had to find something to occupy their time), and the sequel’s smooth movement and tough stages are irresistible to those pursuing records.

The game motivates players by offering an achievement for completing it in under five hours, thereby urging them to finish quickly.

Even though the official leaderboards won’t be available until October 1st, players are eagerly attempting to break records even faster. Remarkably, we’ve already witnessed some amazing speed runs.

Speedrunners are beating Silksong in 90 minutes after

On his YouTube channel, Speedrunner BlueSR posted a video of him completing the entire game Silksong in an astonishingly short time of 1 hour, 26 minutes, and 20 seconds. This feat is truly remarkable, as it typically takes around 22 hours to finish the game by following the primary route.

To accomplish the task within the given timeframe, he needed to think outside the box. He employed several clever strategies to bypass whole segments, thereby saving valuable minutes, and engaged in combat only with bosses who were absolutely unavoidable.

Interestingly, his speed during the run was such that it might have been faster still, had he not encountered three instances of death that significantly slowed him down.

As I proudly share, my Silksong run is among the fastest recorded at the time of writing, trailing only one other remarkable runner in speed. I’ve broken the 90-minute barrier, making me one of the elite few to achieve this feat. The record-holder remains a mystery due to offline leaderboards, but speedrunners maintain a shared spreadsheet tracking the times, as disclosed on X.

Tomorrow, I’m gunning for another shot at the top. I plan on breaking the record and making it a mark no one can surpass – here’s to claiming that number one spot again: “I’m going for the high score tomorrow and the record with it! Bring it on!

In just a few days since its release, players of Silksong are already achieving astonishing speeds. Compared to the original Hollow Knight, which is notably smaller in scale, it typically takes around half an hour to complete. It remains to be seen if the gaming community will discover strategies that could potentially match or even surpass this speed.

Team Cherry has previously announced a patch intended to simplify the initial stages of the game, which may also trim a few seconds from the playtimes.
