New snack brand launches 9-volt battery flavored chips

As a passionate gamer, I just stumbled upon an exciting news tidbit that’ll make every nostalgic kid out there jump for joy! The innovative snack company, Rewind, has finally done it – they’ve come up with a chip that tastes just like a 9-volt battery! You read that right, folks. Now we can relive one of the strangest shared childhood experiences and transform it into an audacious new product. Count me in for this electrifying snack adventure!

This taste mimics the sharp metallic taste and tingling sensation you get from licking a battery, achieved through ingredients such as citric acid, baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), and various minerals. Its purpose is to evoke memories and pique interest.

Refresh, a brand, aims to resurrect nostalgic feelings with unique twist on classic snack tastes. The debut will happen initially in the Netherlands.

Battery flavor leads viral snack lineup

The battery-powered chip belongs to a wider assortment, which also features Cheese & Onion, Spicy Sriracha, Creamy Paprika, and BBQ & Honey flavors. Rewind distinguishes itself as a brand that emphasizes nostalgia with contemporary touches.

The chip inspired by batteries is part of an assortment offering Cheese & Onion, Tangy Sriracha, Creamy Paprika, and BBQ & Honey flavors, which Rewind positions as a brand that combines nostalgia with modern elements.

As a devoted admirer, I’d like to share that Antti Lauronen, the Creative & Design Chief at Paulig, expressed their intention to kick things off powerfully by crafting a delectable homage to an eccentric, universally shared recollection.

Since Rewind draws inspiration from nostalgia, it seemed fitting to kick things off by paying homage to a universally cherished memory – a flavor reminiscent of those blissful afternoons of youthful freedom. That’s what they expressed.

But if battery-flavored chips don’t appeal to you, we offer a variety of classic favorites with a contemporary twist instead.

Flavorist Mattias Larsson, who developed the chip, called the result “surprisingly tasty.”

In a recent press announcement, it was stated that they combined citric acid and sodium bicarbonate to produce a zesty sensation on the tongue. To counteract this, they added mineral salts, which imparted a distinctive metallic flavor to the chips. The end product is surprisingly delicious and undeniably intriguing.

Although introducing a fresh taste for their chips, the company explicitly states that they neither endorse nor approve of individuals licking, biting, or consuming actual batteries as a practice.

As a dedicated fan, I’ve got to share some exciting news! It’s not just the ‘Wild Chip Flavor of 2025’ that’s making waves, there’s more. In fact, way back in January, Pringles teamed up with Miller Light for a limited-edition flavor – Beer Can Chicken! Yes, you heard it right. A taste of summer barbecues right in your hand!
